Manchester is well known for being a home to many different cuisines and restaurants. It’s a fantastic, multicultural city that provides people the chance to taste amazing food, from Indian to Italian and Chinese. One thing that we often to please though is our sweet tooth cravings and this is where good old waffles come in. Manchester has loads of places that can make you an unbelievably tasty waffle. Served with honey, ice cream or chocolate (or even waffles with chicken if you want a savoury dish first!), waffles are very versatile and always delicious. Shack Bar and Grill

Founded in 2013 in the heart of the Northern Quarter, this late-night burger bar has lots to offer. Pool, live sport and the famous disco bottomless brunches are just some things to enjoy at Shack. Speaking of brunch, this is the best time to have waffles here. In terms of savoury dishes, the buttermilk chicken and waffles covered in maple syrup along with sheets of bacon are a must try. In terms of waffles on their own, they can come with either blueberry compote and honey, strawberries and cream, or the overwhelming favourite choice, bacon and maple syrup. If you want your fix of waffles, this versatile bar might just be the place to go.

Located near the Manchester Piccadilly Train Station on an industrial road, called Ducie Street of course, this very hip warehouse is perfect for casual get togethers. From workshops to talks and music and film events, there is always something going on here. It’s also home to some amazing waffles. To have waffles covered in bananas, whipped cream, Nutella and crushed pecans in a gorgeous location is something which is not to be missed.

Started in 2017, Fress is an independent family business that has become a stalwart of the Northern Quarter. Fress provides comforting and delicious food for all, whether for brunch, lunch, dinner, afternoon tea or just to enjoy gorgeous desserts. Here you’ll find waffle egg bennies that come with hollandaise sauce and either bacon, salmon and avocado or mushrooms and halloumi. Fress also does fantastic chicken and waffles. These come with gorgeous buttermilk chicken and bacon with either Fress’ very own gravy or maple syrup all on top of the fluffy homemade waffles. Another great location for mouthwatering waffles.

The dessert specialists of Didsbury provide a fantastic experience in their café. Located in the wonderful and upmarket area of Didsbury, Caramello has a mix between Italian and French cuisines to make delicious meals. Of course, there are also incredible waffles! There’s the filling chicken waffle served also with turkey rashers, fried egg and maple syrup, and there’s the breakfast waffle, which is served with turkey rashers, avocado, fried egg and Caramello’s very own homemade breakfast sauce.

Located on the edge of the Northern Quarter is Café North, an independent and socially conscious establishment that will provide you warmth and comfort through its food and hospitality. You can expect to have wonderful meals throughout the day here. In terms of waffles, to put simply they are delicious. All the waffles are homemade and come with different options of toppings, such as summer fruits with ice cream and chocolate sauce, banana and Nutella, or strawberry and Nutella. You can also get waffles with streaky crispy bacon with maple syrup – phwoar.

If you are in the mood to indulge, head to Cocoa Cabana, Manchester’s award-winning chocolatier. Here, you can enjoy decadent desserts, artisan bakes and of course, the fluffiest waffles. If you love a mixture of sweet and savoury, you will love Cocoa Cabana’s chicken and waffles topped with chilli salt, sriracha and maple syrup. If you’re all about the sweet, you should try Cocoa Cabana’s new fondue experience, which involves dipping all your favourite treats, including strawberries, s’mores and waffles into the delicious melted chocolate.

Heard of loaded fries? Lost Cat does it one better with loaded waffle fries. You can choose from a wide range of options including the BLT fries with iceberg lettuce, melted cheese, smoked bacon, tomato and pancetta topped spring onion, a sprinkling of crispy onions and a smothering of maple mustard mayo. The katsu waffle fries are also a winner and you can choose from real fried chicken or vegan fried chicken. You should also keep an eye on the monthly specials as there’s always a new loaded waffle fries dish you can try.

House of Chai is known for its delicious sweet plates, like the huge and tasty waffles. If chocolate is your chosen vice, you should go for the chocoholic waffle with a mixture of milk and white chocolate. The banana waffle topped with white chocolate is also a favourite, however if you prefer something even sweeter, try the strawberry and Nutella waffle. All the waffles at House of Chai are served with a delicious scoop of vanilla ice cream, which is the perfect compliment to a hot and fluffy waffle.

Looking to try the best chicken waffles in Manchester? On the Hush’s chick chick waffles could definitely be a contender. To start, the portion size of two small waffles is perfect, plus the crispy buttermilk chicken is just the right amount of crispy and tender. All of this is complemented by the perfect smothering of maple syrup, with fresh strawberries scattered around the plate to add a level of freshness to the dish.

With over 25 different waffle items on the menu, it’s no wonder it’s become the go to place for waffle fanatics. Some standouts include the Oreo crumble waffle, topped with the most delicious mixture of Nutella, Oreo crumble and chocolate drizzle. If you prefer biscuits over chocolate, go for the Jammy Dodger waffle coated with white chocolate sauce, raspberry sauce, a lovely biscuit crumble, an actual Jammy Dodger biscuit and a serving of soft serve ice cream with a drizzle of raspberry sauce.

Almost Famous is known for its big and outlandish burgers and sumptuous sides, like the wonderdusted waffle fries. Everyone loves the pizza fries, which are covered in pepperoni, nacho cheese, jalapeno and onion served with a helping of bacon ketchup, bacon bacon mayo. The pig and waffle fries are also a must-try. These are covered in a delicious helping of pulled pork, jalapeno and onion, which are sauced in red neck BBQ and blue cheese sauce.Almost Famous doesn’t stop there, as you will also find waffle fries on some of the burgers, like the Blame it on the Whiskey double cheeseburger with bbq pork and chipotle hot honey or the Butter, Blood and Bleu burger packed with creamy bleu cheese sauce and wonder onions.
