It's always a good time to get out and try a cocktail or three…
The city by the river offers up some of the coolest bars in the country. Armed with our list, go and check out Brisbane’s best bars and have a drink on us!
Just on the edge of the water at Eagle Street Pier, Mr and Mrs G Riverbar can be found. This is one of Brisbane’s favourite bars. Here patrons can enjoy a vast selection of Australian wines, cocktails, Champagne, and spirits in stunning surroundings with expansive views over the Brisbane River. This place is ideal for after-work drinks, special occasions and corporate functions.
More adventurous patrons can ask the talented bar staff to mix them a personalised, bespoke cocktail. Prefer to play it safe? Don’t worry there are tons of fantastic options on the menu too.
Step through the orange door, part the heavy black curtains and be transported to old world London at Savile Row. With a crystal chandelier, wood panelling and an impressive wall of bottles, you’ll find plenty of cosy nooks and crannies for intimate gatherings, as well as larger spaces for a group of mates.
Craft beers and carefully created cocktails are the go at Super Whatnot, a cubby hole of a bar in Brisbane’s CBD. Its exposed brick walls and industrial-chic vibe make it a handy laneway escape from the hustle and bustle of the city’s streets. There’s also a short menu of tasty tacos and quesadillas, which go perfectly with the regularly changing drinks list.
If you’re a fan of Negronis, you really can’t go past Sasso Italiano. There are 11 of them on the menu, everything from the classic to one made with an orange and Campari sorbet, not to mention a Fig Negroni and another made with rosemary smoke. The 70s vibe is strong at this new-ish Italian bar and restaurant which pays tribute to the Italian American red sauce joints of this era, and there’s plenty to get into that is non-Negroni related, including natural wines, Italian-inspired cocktails and a menu stuffed with pizza and pasta that will be hard to resist!
Death and Taxes is arguably the coolest drinking hole in Brisbane. As you walk in, you’re greeted by dark panelled walls, a mahogany bar, and a most stunning beverage display. This place is like stepping back in time to a dusky (but oh-so suave) watering hole. Located in Burnett Lane, Brisbane’s oldest laneway dating back to 1829, today the bar is approached by a road full to bursting with Brisbane’s street art. Look no further than Death and Taxes for quality service, delicious drinks and social seating in the coolest of environments in town.
Cobbler is a whisky and cocktail bar located on Browning Street in the heart of Brisbane’s West End district. The cool brick interior is chic and welcoming and the drinks menu doesn’t disappoint either. The concept for this bar was dreamed up many moons ago when three friends were looking for a place to hang out on those quiet Monday nights, and it’s now a firm favourite of Brisbane’s whisky lovers.
