Two floors of dancing, Latin-inspired dining and live music just off Deansgate that makes you feel like you are in Havana. The food is wonderful in quality and variety; from tasty tapas dishes such as Albondigas meatballs and Chimichurri corn to burgers, sharing plates and large dishes, like the Cuban fish and chips, paella de Cuba and the classic Cubano sandwich that’s simply delicious. Apart from its food offerings, Revolución de Cuba is known for its extensive cocktail menu, featuring classic Cuban cocktails like Mojitos, Daiquiris and Cuba Libres. You probably won’t notice El Cuba Libre when you first arrive at the building. That’s because this place is located above the Sportsman Inn in Hyde, which is in Greater Manchester, between Stockport and Glossop. Once you walk into the restaurant you’ll realise that this is a mini Cuba. From the decorations to the list of cocktails on the wall, the Cuban-themed bar and the tapas dishes, it’s very much inspired by the Latin American culture. Tapas dishes include Congri (black beans with rice), king prawns, stuffed jalapeños and meatballs. This restaurant feels both Cuban and English because of the pub downstairs. Eating and drinking here is a unique and tasty experience.
Located in the Spinningfields, this cocktail bar is ‘where exclusivity meets inclusivity’. Rendition MCR provides the opportunity to have a great time with friends. It also provides amazing deals, like two for £12 cocktails every 5pm to 8pm Thursday to Saturday. You must try the banana cocktail, which consists of banana liqueur, Havana rum and lime. Be careful though, it is strong! This might be an expensive looking club and bar, but don’t be fooled. It’s affordable and accepting of all – a perfect place for a Cuban cocktail or two.
The Liars Club is a tucked away tropical themed bar who have Captain Lyndon Higginson making the finest Caribbean-style cocktails in Manchester. Situated in Deansgate, close to the People’s Museum and on the side near the Salford border to Manchester, The Liars Club is dominated by the sound of afrobeat, reggae and hip-hop music, bringing a refreshing change to Manchester’s late night sounds.
