Embrace a little luxury with the rich and opulent black Périgord truffle as it takes the culinary scene by storm.
Leading the charge this truffle season is Paris Butter, hosting truffle dinners (August 17th is the next one!) to tantalise the taste buds and explore the natural intensity of the Périgord truffle. Paris Butter source their truffle from George’s Truffles based in Riwaka, where they handpick their produce and fly it up personally to Auckland each week to deliver the truffle face to face. Bask in the likes of beef tartare with truffle, walnuts, mustard ice cream and beetroot. The 5-course meal is available to book in now for just $180pp.
Elmo’s is a truffle season veteran, expertly creating divine dishes that delight the tastebuds and showcases truffles in creative and delicious ways. The Italian eatery specialises in authentic wood-fired pizzas and fresh traditional homemade pasta. Elmo’s has announced the eagerly awaited return of its seasonal truffle menu in all its glory.
The menu ranges from truffle arancini to truffle carpaccio, chitarra alla carbonara with fresh truffle and the iconic discovery of truffle pizza. The latter pairs tomato Taleggio bechamel, mushrooms, leek melt, flamed egg yolk and fresh black truffle.
Tantalising bites and a crisp glass of champagne, Faraday’s is a one-stop spot for revitalisation after a big day of retail therapy. The menu is simple yet opulent, with caviar and charcuterie boards. However, it is Faraday’s French fries with truffle crème that truly steals the show. The beauty of the Périgord truffle is its ability to instantly transform any dish it graces.
Andiamo stole our hearts with its fresh and modern Italian cuisine; the handmade pasta is love at first bite. The seasonal menu showcases local delicacies and the infamous Périgord truffle in all its splendour. Truffles make an appearance across the entire menu in dishes like the truffled burrata, truffle potato fries, bianca pizzette with truffle mascarpone, and first-light wagyu bavette with truffle jus. Our favourite is the macaroni with fontina, cheddar, parmesan, truffle, bacon and chilli.
Ready to knock truffle season out of the park is little old Hero Sandwich House; pursuing perfection in each bite, their offering for truffle season is sure to start a craze. Simplicity at its finest comes in the form of a truffle melt, pairing toasted bread, gooey melted cheese and the unforgettable earthiness of black Périgord truffle. Delicious. A delicacy we cannot wait to overindulge in!
With handmade pasta, locally sourced fresh produce and unforgettable flavours, Amano’s menu is a work of art, and the Italian-inspired cuisine is unbeatable. Our favourite fungi can be found in the egg-dough tagliatelle topped with a healthy dose of parmesan and Christchurch Périgord black truffle.
