Celebrating St Patrick's Day in Dublin
Where better to celebrate St Patrick’s Day than Ireland’s capital, Dublin? Watch the city transform into a hotspot of colour, festivity and pride for five days straight – stretching between 16th – 20th March. Watching the parade is a must (and after two years of being cancelled, it promises to be extraordinary), but you’ll want to book ahead for somewhere to celebrate before or afterwards. Real highlights include the decadent confit potato, served with lovage and beef tartare, the Lissadell oyster, topped with morita chilli and fennel pollen, and of course, the treacle tart served with a blood orange compote. Vegetarian menus are always available upon request, and the drinks menu, though small, is perfectly formed, showcasing some of the world’s most unique winemakers. Service is slick, and the waiting staff are friendly. For a seriously sophisticated St. Patrick’s Day celebration, look no further.
For an authentic taste of St Patrick’s day, head to Toners. Established in 1734, it’s one of Dublin’s oldest drinking establishments. With a sizeable beer garden outside, and plenty of roomy booths inside, it’s the perfect destination to celebrate with a group. The atmosphere is usually buzzing, so expect lots of noise on St Paddy’s Day. The staff are extremely friendly – as are the clientele – making you feel right at home. For food, pizza is the order of the day. The perfect accompaniment to any evening drinks, the pizzas are all provided by the neighbouring award-winning restaurant Cirillo. What’s not to like?
Located in the heart of Dublin City is Foyley’s – a well-loved live music venue and bar. This place boasts more than just crowd-pleasing music, however. The food is top-notch: in-house chefs work hard to prepare fresh and seasonal produce.
