Bubbles at brunch? Say no more. Home to the original bubbles and brunch session in Christchurch, Miro delivers when it comes to all things brunch. Cosy, sleek, and chic all at the same time, life’s problems seem to seize as soon as you walk through Miro’s doors. The menu is seasonal, showcasing the freshest produce, but some of our favourites currently include their Smoked Hereford brisket Benedict, Pea gnocchi with house smoked salmon, Lemon chia pudding, and Grilled vanilla and brown butter brioche with Elderflower custard. Wash it down with any of their splendid classic breakfast cocktails with a twist, or stick to your signature Allpress coffee. Miro truly is the dream inner-city breakfast bar.
Bringing a cool open concept and Korean flare to the Christchurch brunch scene, Child Sister has certainly made a name for themselves since opening in 2019. The calm colour palette and spaced-out seating allows you to immerse in your own pocket of peace with a coffee and damn good dish. The menu has a few classic favourites, as well as some more Korean-inspired dishes to branch into. Their two stand-outs have to include their Kimchi Rice Omelette and the Breakfast Sandwich – neither of which will disappoint.
A staple in the CHCH brunch scene, Hello Sunday captures everything great about a lush, lazy Sunday and serves it up on a plate. The cosy inside replicates the former church the building once was, with plenty of pre-loved wooden furniture and fun pops of colour. The menu is anything but repetitive, with fan-favourites including their Beef Cheek Hash, Upside Down Crumble, Coffee Spiked Chia Pudding, and their signature Shakshuka. Take your coffee black or white, or opt for a bubbly breakfast with a flute of something sweet.
Situated in the very heart of Christchurch, Westend Stories is a neatly packaged eatery with everything you could dream of for a Sunday brunch. The friendly staff welcome you into the expansive space and the greenery creates an almost botanical garden atmosphere. To dine, you’ll get to pick from their seasonal menu (which highlights local produce) with options such as Creamy Mushrooms, Shawarma Bowls, Smashed Greens, and classic Eggs Benedict. Coffee, beer, wine, juices, and smoothies all decorate the drinks menu, with a little something for everyone.
Considered an integral part of the Christchurch coffee scene, Black Betty Cafe has created a unique and memorable space to sip and dine for locals and visitors. With plenty of different seating options, you’ll find all kinds of diners inside the alternative cafe and a table to call home with every visit. The award-winning menu features dishes such as Pecan Granola, Brioche French Toast, Spicy Scramble, Corn Fritter Stack, and a signature Big Breakfast for a big appetite. To drink, Black Betty has coffee, tea, and cold drinks with all the trimmings.
