With International Women’s Day on the horizon, we would like to invite everyone to celebrate some of Auckland’s favourite women-run eateries.

It’s no secret, the world would come to standstill without the strong independent women who keep it running. This March 8th, don’t forget to celebrate the amazing wahine in your life – and why not pay a visit to one of these awesome venues to say thanks on IWD!

We love supporting young women making big strides, especially when it comes in the shape of cookies. Deanna Yang is the proud owner and operator of Moustache Milk and Cookie Bar, aka; heaven on earth. What started as an item on Deanna’s childhood bucket list ended as a delightful reality that all of Auckland benefits from. Moustache is for the young and the young at heart; celebrate your inner child with a cookie pie. The menu consists of classic cookies, cookie pies, Mo shakes and desserts; treat your sweet tooth with a decadent triple chocolate cookie pie and a cookie dough shake on the side. The Pie Piper and Doornuts
cuisinesDessert, American

The infamous K-road is back at it again, answering all of our food-related dreams. The Pie Piper and Doornuts is a beloved spot for all things yummy, including the iconic pies, donuts and cakes. Co-founders, Mother and daughter duo Danielle and Suzanne Butler, won the hearts of Aucklanders with their American-style dessert pies. What started as a travelling food stall blossomed into a store that created innovative and divine baked goods like the legendary Doornuts. The Doornuts are colourful masterpieces that look too good to eat. With custom made letter-shaped donuts, the monster doornut donut cake and Dorothy’s rainbow box – you are spoiled for choice. The pie selection can’t be missed with classic American options like the pumpkin pie and the strawberry and rhubarb pie.

Coco’s Cantina
cuisinesItalian

In 2009, a beautiful little restaurant opened on K-Road; on that day, we started our love affair with Coco’s Cantina. The brains behind the venture were powerful sister duo Renee and Damaris Coulter; while the latter has moved on to other projects, you can still find Renee at Coco’s. The homestyle, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine always hits the spot; it is warm, flavourful and comforting. Enjoy a generous serving of zucchini and ricotta ravioli, or grab a slice of classic Margherita pizza with a grilled broccolini salad on the side. All of Coco’s food is fresh, locally sourced and handled with love.
