The deep earthy notes have an undertone of oak and nuts that perfectly complement every dish they grace. Truffle has endless potential and we love seeing how versatile it is.

While most bars and restaurants in Auckland will have one dish to celebrate the decadence of truffles, Elmo’s has a whole new menu dedicated to truffle season. For a limited time only, you can indulge in the finer things in life. If you managed to visit Elmo’s for last year’s truffle season, you’ll understand the craze.

Elmo’s is a family-built authentic Italian eatery located in the heart of Ponsonby. They specialise in handcrafted gourmet wood-fired pizzas and traditional pasta dishes. The menu combines old Italian classics with a modern twist, taking inspiration from Italy and across Europe.

Their fresh truffle menu showcases the fragrant Périgord Black Truffle from the New Zealand Te Puke Truffle Company. What the menu lacks in size it more than makes up for in taste. It’s a truffle lovers dream. There are seven outstanding options listed on the menu, ranging from pasta to carpaccio and pizza.

Start your exploration with the truffle burrata, the unusual cheese has a solid exterior with a soft texture on the inside. Served with a drizzle of olive oil and fresh black truffle.

The Chitarra Alla Carbonara is a delicious fresh chitarra pasta with Guanciale, Pancetta, egg yolk, Pecorino, and fresh black truffle. A rich dish, which has raised our truffle expectations to an unbeatable level.

Elmo’s legendary Discovery of Truffle is making its long-awaited return! This dish knocked it out of the park last year. Imagine a thin and crispy based pizza, perfectly charred and smokey. With a layer of sauce, then cheese, mushroom, and a flamed egg yolk. The different components already make a statement on its own, then there’s the fresh black truffle shaved across the top. This adds an earthy essence to the pizza and enhances the experience. Each mouth-watering bite exploding with flavour.

For an even more indulgent option then the Truffle Arancini is our go to. Elmo’s have put their heart and soul into this dish. The delicious little parcels pop with flavour. Made with forest mushrooms, mozzarella, 18 months old gouda, sun-dried tomato crème fraîche, and fresh black truffle

Elmo’s understands the importance of truffle so over the season you can add it to any item of their extended menu for $10 to make the most of the season.

This is a great restaurant to bring the whole family to, they’re open for lunch, dinner and a cheeky night cap. Truffle season, sadly, won’t last forever so make sure you head to Elmo’s before it’s too late! Book ahead to guarantee a table.
