Thai restaurants in London

Picture this: happy chatter mixing with the smell of spices wafting in the air, a spoonful of food you’ve just tasted turns sweet and sour with salty and spicy undertones. Whether you’ve visited Thailand or not, you don’t have to leave the experience to your imagination or holiday. We know of quite a few places that effortlessly balance all these unique flavours and bring a taste of Thai culture to the dining scene in London. If you’re a fan of oriental cuisine just like we are, this guide is dedicated to you.

The idea for The Begging Bowl was born from a passion for Thai food and the symbolic significance of the begging bowl and giving alms that are associated with the beginning of one’s nirvana journey. Not to sound too cliché, but as you step into the restaurant, you can be sure to achieve that perfect bliss with how much attention to detail it has and how friendly the service is.

As far as the food is concerned, the experience is truly authentic: ingredients are sourced fresh and strike a balance between so many unique Thai flavours, which is what we love this cuisine for. In line with traditions, you can expect a sense of community and sharing plates that come with dishes such as a broth with mushrooms, tofu, sea rosemary and rock samphire, or fish grilled in curry paste and wrapped in a banana leaf. Of course, there’s a lot more for your palate to enjoy but we don’t want to spoil it for you. Head there to find out for yourself. You won’t regret it.

Drawing on 30 years of experience, Mai Thai Deli is the place where tradition meets a modern approach. The original recipes are home-cooked with a special focus on the ‘green’ value and locally sourced ingredients.

The menu reflects how versatile Thai food is and that a lot depends on personal preference. For example, as an appetiser, you can nibble on spicy prawn crackers with plum sauce or try something more unique like deep-fried chicken wings marinated in salt, lemon grass and lime leaves. For the main, you can choose from soups and salads, Thai curries, stir fry and grill, fish, noodles and rice dishes. Another highlight is the venue’s plant-filled space that creates a cosy atmosphere that allows you to unwind and fully focus on this culinary experience.

If you’re already wondering how you’ll be able to handle so much spice, consider washing it all down with a glass of sweet wine. Visit the restaurant on a Tuesday when you can expect 50 per cent off bottles.
