Fleur Espresso
cuisinesCafe, Breakfast, Brunch

Your Insta feed might be plastered with them, but let’s face it, a brightly filtered brunch snap never gets old.

Better yet if these plates of rainbow-hued art taste as good as they look, which is the perfect way to describe the brekky fare at Fleur Espresso.

The chic Toorak-based cafe nails the balance between tried-and-true egg classics and more versatile, funkier flavour combinations. All of it works and makes for some interesting camera roll candy for your socials.

Think crème caramel French toast, 12-hour lamb shank with eggplant bechamel or a nasi goreng-inspired salad with German späetzle.

Curious? Just make sure you arrive at your hungriest – you’ll want to try everything in sight.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Breakie carbonara ($26.90)

Naked for Satan
cuisinesBasque, Tapas, Bar

You probably didn’t hear it here first, but how about a reminder? There’s no better view of Melbourne’s city skyline than the one from Naked for Satan’s balcony.

The vibing Fitzroy rooftop bar is a classic spot for selfie snaps, but the food and drinks are no less a drawcard. From Spanish-style tapas and oyster platters, to buttermilk fried chicken and grilled meat skewers, the versatile menu caters to small and large groups alike.

Cheese and charcuterie boards are in high supply for those who prefer to graze, with plenty of cocktail options for washing it all down.

Take your pick from the pintxos downstairs over an aperitif, before riding up the elevator to scout out a table. Sundown’s the best time for capturing that perfect orange sunset snap, but get in earlier if you can – the minute happy hour hits, half of Brunswick Street’s revelers will be making a beeline for the same spot.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Baked camembert ($24)

Gimlet at Cavendish House
cuisinesModern Australian, Bar

It’s the upmarket restaurant on every foodie’s lips since superstar chef Andrew McConnell first opened its doors and while it recently nabbed a spot on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants longlist, it’s also catching the eye of another cohort altogether: the Insta crowd.

Housed in a Chicago-style 1920s building on leafy Russell Street, Gimlet at Cavendish House is an insanely romantic venue. The cocktail bar and dining room smoulders with old-world European glamour and is fast gaining a reputation as a goldmine for photoshoot opportunities.

Sidle into one of the booths and take a few snaps of the nostalgic decor. Then, fill up your B-roll with shots of all the oysters, wood-fired meats and wines your tummy (and wallet) can handle. There’s even a caviar service if you want to turn up the posh factor.
Whether it’s the heritage architecture or the elegant menu, one thing’s for sure: it’s impossible not to fall in love at Gimlet.

Dish Cult’s top pick: ½ Southern rock lobster, wood-roasted in saffron rice, “bisque” sauce ($160)

Sebastian Beach Grill
cuisinesBasque, Bar

Dreaming of a summer vacay in Spain? To sip on cocktails over azure coastal vistas, you may not need to travel so far.

Sebastian is a picturesque bar and grill on Williamstown Beach, serving up beautifully presented charcoal-smoked and seafood dishes – with an Insta-friendly side of immaculate Basque aesthetics.

The blue and white dining room opens out onto a generously sized, sun-dappled beach deck with daybeds and umbrellas: the perfect sunny setting for shoreline snaps.

Grab a cocktail at the outdoor bar or bask in the sun while the resident DJ takes care of the tunes. The chef only uses high-quality local produce and every Wednesday it’s paella night.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Wednesday’s seafood paella ($60 for two)

Hareruya Pantry
cuisinesJapanese, Gelato

Hareruya: sounds like “hallelujah” but actually translates to ‘sunny shop’ in Japanese.

But “hallelujah” is what you might as well be saying when you stumble across this adorable bento cafe and convenience store in Carlton.

Unlike the majority of inner city fast food joints, Hareruya masters a delightful attention to detail and quality not evident only in the taste of its culinary creations but also in its presentation, too.

The super cute bento boxes are colourful, neat and everything you imagine an idyllic Japanese lunch should look like.

Here, you can fill up on other snap-worthy treats, too, like the specialty house-made Japanese gelato, pastries, onigiri or sando.

Lincoln Square’s grassy area is a convenient space to enjoy – and take gorgeous photographs of – your picnic.

Dish Cult’s top pick: Hareruya bento ($24)
