Ah, ramen. Slurpy, hot, fragrant, tasty noodles in broth. Nothing is better on a day when you just need a little culinary pick-me-up. Check out our five favourite places to score a bowl of the good stuff in Melbourne.
The ramen menu at Hakata Gensuke will vary depending on which outlet you hit for your ramen fix.
The Russell Street and Hawthorn venues’ signature dish is the Tonkotsu, a full-bodied pork broth packed with thin noodles, black fungus, and spring onions.
Diners at QV will discover the signature Tori Ramen – noodles, tender chicken, bamboo shoots, and spring onion all floating in a creamy chicken and dashi broth.
Visitors to the Carlton venue will discover the Yatai Ramen, which will appeal to lovers of pork belly and bamboo shoots.

25 year-old family broth recipes paired with hand-made noodles is what ramen lovers will find at Musashi Ramen.
The Black Tora combines rich pork broth with black garlic oil, cured egg, braised pork, thin noodles, black fungus and spring onion.
Musashi Ramen’s speciality is the Wagyu Yakuza Ramen, with the beef torched on your table, sitting in a delicate soy broth.
But if you prefer your ramen dry, then opt for the Vege Dry Ramen – a signature dish of wavy egg or soba noodles, served with seasonal vegetables.

First diners choose their soup base – miso, soy, garlic, or salt based. Then they choose their ingredients – pork, tofu, corn, carrot, onion, cabbage, egg, or seafood. The chef will then add a topping to suit; seaweed, spring onions, or sesame. Housemade pork or vegetable gyoza rounds out the menu at Little Ramen Bar.

The ramen here is, like others on this list, Kyushu style. This means that pork is the basis of the broth, which makes for a rich and milky bowl of soup.
The Charsu Pork Ramen features leeks and wood ear mushrooms, while the Seafood Ramen is packed with clams and prawns. If you prefer some heat in your ramen, choose the Spicy Chicken with cabbage and seaweed.
