Looking for something lighter in Melbourne for 2022?
Blurk. It’s January 1st, and you feel like you ate the whole buffet. In fact, you probably did. Well, never fear, the New Year is here and so too are five hang-outs in Melbourne to help you get your head straight and on the right track to working off that ‘Christmas Cheer’.
Tropicana on Elizabeth has been pulverising from the local markets fruit into quick juice hits for the last 19 years. Head there to get your fresh juice, smoothie, or raw blend mix here.
Tropicana also does certified organic Acai bowls and salad bowls. We fancy the Fresh Green Blend (Mixed Salads, Spinach, Celery, Cucumber, Green Apple, Avocado, Fresh Mint) to kickstart your January diet.
It’s open for breakfast and lunch, which would be a great way to soak in the Summer rays as well.
The Vegie Bar whips up food that is designed to sooth the mind, body and soul.
This venue is a walk-in and takeaway, where you can get ahold of a fruit juice, a smoothie, or a much-needed digestive. They put on brunch until 4pm too.
The Digestive Kimchi is just the ticket for sad post-NYE tummies, and at three bucks it’s cheap too. If you’re feeling extra depleted, then order a Nutri Bomb, which is loaded with fresh berries.
If you need some veg then grab a seasonal vegetable plate, steamed or stir-fried.
Top Juice wanna keep you feeling on top of things with their range of juices, smoothies, superfood, and detox shots.
Get right down to business with a cold-pressed watercress and lemon shot, followed by the Acai bowl, which is packed with berries, banana and apple juice.
You can also grab a takeaway one litre bottle of juice from the juice or smoothie menu to take with you, and keep those good intentions going at home.
For $10.90, you can create your own salad at Blue Bag Fresh. And if you can’t decide, then choose one of their recipes to feed your body and soul with. Simply choose your salad leaf and grain base, then add four ingredients, and top it off with a healthy dressing.
The Superfood Salad (quinoa, kale, edamame, broccoli, capsicum) is the perfect choice for those wanting to kick-start their January diet, as would be the Garden Shovel (we love the name too!)
Crisp wants you to eat your way to feeling good. So get into one of their three CBD venues and order up!
Try the Super Detox salad, which has tofu, quinoa, edamame, beetroot, mixed leaves, sesame seeds and coriander, or grab the straight celery juice, to really give your insides a good cleanse. If you can’t do straight celery, then perhaps a 100% fruit smoothie, with mango, melon, berries, and passionfruit.
