Sando aficionados rejoice! Joining the ranks of Christchurch’s reputable hospitality sector is none other than Tom’s. Open only a few short months; this sandwich joint is already making waves and amassing a cult-like following. Located in the South Town area of the CBD, visitors can find the eatery by its striking exterior; the cobalt blue hue of Tom’s is unforgettable.

Peruse the cabinet selection or sink your teeth into the star of the show, aka; the sandos. The prosciutto, pepperoncini & mayo sandwich comes in an incredibly soft focaccia bun! Diners can also get their hands on jalapeno scones, apricot sponge cake and bacon & marmalade croissants. Everything Tom’s creates is fresh, innovative, and a delight to the tastebuds.

Sleek and sophisticated, Seven offers the ultimate dining experience. With a selection of tables to suit your every need, this is the perfect spot for intimate nights out. The elegant restaurant is located on the seventh (hence the name) floor of the Muse Art Hotel. Watch the sunset over the Port Hills as you work your way through the extensive wine list; featuring international names that are sure to delight the palate.

The menu is made up of sharing plates that focus on seasonal produce and a luxe modernist vibe. Dine upon chargrilled octopus, Poaka salumi and white fish roulade. The latter is paired with cucumber, burnt mandarin puree and tonic jelly. End the night with something sweet, we recommend the chocolate shiitake truffle; it’s rich, decadent and unforgettable.

South Town Club
cuisinesModern New Zealand

South Town Club is a local watering hole and quirky destination spot for visitors! The ever-changing menu consists of old favourites, reinvented and new creations. It showcases the very best of what local producers have to offer. Blow those morning cobwebs off with a steaming cup of epic coffee or add an extra dash of hangover sauce to your dish.

Inspired by international trends and flavours, the menu features creative dishes that are simply divine. The Caribbean double is a South Town Club classic. The turmeric flatbread is loaded with curried chickpeas, sesame-pickled cucumbers, mango chutney, coriander and toasted coconut. Other tasty treats include lucky dip breakfast dumplings, confit garlic hummus and the brekky bun with our favourite fillings.

Hokitika Sandwich Company
cuisinesSandwich Shop, Deli

2022 is the year for innovative and delicious sammie stores. Hokitika Sandwich Company can be found on High Street in the heart of the city. Just follow the line of rumbling stomachs and you will end up at its door. The bread is baked from scratch, fresh each morning, by a local baker. The meat is free-range and local; crafted the old-fashioned way by an artisan butcher. The cheese is handmade by a variety of South Island cheesemakers, and the condiments are fresh and made in-house.

Even the salad is better than anywhere else; picked every morning by a local grower. These sandwiches prioritise freshness, quality and flavour! Our go-to is the coaster, a fantastic hangover remedy and drool-worthy bite for when you’re on the go. This beauty pairs fried eggs with aged cheddar, prosciutto, west coast butter, aioli and greens.
