Dining out for the the night owls.
Prefer to dine late rather than eat early? We hear you. Sometimes you find yourself in want of dinner at an unsociable hour, and there is nothing worse than when you can’t find anything open late that’s decent. So here are some quality late-night eats in Melbourne for you to enjoy.
This late-night eatery is open from 11AM to 2AM, seven days per week, to satisfy your nocturnal meat cravings.
Butcher’s Diner runs a Daily Specials menu that is as varied as a Wagyu beef roll, tacos, or a tuna melt.
Their All-Day menu will see diners ordering basic yet tasty treats such as burgers, toasties, fried chicken and hotdogs, while the charcoal grill, rolls, and sides are sure to please.
Butcher’s Diner offers up a few sweet treats too, to satisfy those nocturnal sugar cravings. The Spanish donuts with chocolate sauce should hit the spot nicely.
The Market Price Daily Butcher’s Cut Steak is the main you should be looking at in Butcher’s Diner.
Bar Romantica is open from 5PM until late, Wednesday to Sunday.
Late-night diners can feast on Bar Romantica’s good choice of snacks, pizza and pasta dishes plus a few sides, and some cannoli for dessert.
Try the rock oysters with lemon or the anchovies with cucumber and dill for starters, then the agnolotti with potato and hazelnut or the prawn carbonara spaghetti if you’re in the mood for pasta. Otherwise, the pizzas here are sure to please – choose from the heirloom zucchini with garlic and mint, or the Italian sausage with spiced honey and passata.
Bar Romantica has a very good wine list and a cocktail/spirit/beer menu too.
The $22 Mortadella pizza with green olives and Pecorino at Bar Romantica gets Dish Cult’s pick.
Bodega Underground is open 7 days until 3AM.
Here you can enjoy some hearty Mexican fare, with plenty of options available for vegetarian and vegan late-night diners.
The Mexican Supper Late Night Combo is a winner. Varying in price from ten bucks up to a still very reasonable 29 dollars, you can enjoy the Rotating Specials, the Paloma Cocktail and Elote (grilled street corn), the Tacos (zucchini or fish) and Tecate, Margaritas and tortilla chips, or the Mezcal Negroni and Fried Chicken Combo. Alternatively, you may prefer the Churro and Espresso Martini Combo to satisfy your sweet tooth.
What else but the Mexican Supper Late Night Combo (12-3AM) would be our recommendation at Bodega Underground.
Open Wednesday to Saturday, 5PM until 1AM, Bar Margaux is your go-to for late-night French eats.
The menu here is, not surprisingly, on the heavier side so if you are looking for a three-course meal and some classic drinks after a late-night show, then this would be the perfect venue.
DIners can order classic French starters such as oysters and escargot, before moving on to steak, duck, and fish dishes with a side of frites. Afterwards, diners can enjoy a souffle or a cheese board.
Classic cocktails and champagne by the glass make your late-night French supper complete.

Open daily until 11PM, Dragon Hot Pot can make pretty much any combination of meat, vegetables and herbs into a delicious soup that your heart desires.
The House Special is the Ma La Tang, a combo of meat, seafood, mushrooms, leafy greens and 24 wild herbs.
Other hot pots on offer at Dragon Hot Pot include their original Vegan soup, their Sichuan Hot and Sour, the Bone Broth, and the Pickled Mustard. They can all be ordered to your liking, whether you like your hot pot mild or fiery.
And if soup isn’t your thing, you can always order the Ma La Spicy Stir Fry instead.
