There are not many better places to party in the UK than Manchester. In the last decade, Manchester has been growing rapidly, however it has had one of the best nightlife scenes in the UK for decades. From the famous and mythical Hacienda, legendary Mancunian bands such as The Stone Roses and Oasis, to the current era of music and partying, Manchester has a rich nightlife history. The Warehouse Project and Parklife Festival are the new centrepieces of partying and music in the city. The music scene is still one of the best in the country with lots of fantastic and unique venues supplying a platform to upcoming bands who are ready to take their chance. There is so much to see and do late at night, whether it’s in the Northern Quarter, Ancoats, Deansgate, Didsbury or elsewhere, the influx of new bars and clubs has added to Manchester’s already bustling nightlife. Here is our list of some of our favourite places for late nights in Manchester.

Despite being on a row of many great bars on Thomas St, Terrace still stands out as one of the most renowned establishments of the Northern Quarter. As you can imagine, it has two fabulous terraces on the roof which offer terrific spots when the weather is nice. But there are heaters and indoor spaces, so it’s perfect for late drinking all year round. In addition, it’s a great spot to gaze at the stars too! Terrace offers Noi Quattro pizzas and has a large quality of drinks available, meaning there are not many places better for drinks and pizza in Manchester. When it gets late at Terrace, inside it gets funky! From R’n’B to soul music, the DJ will make you boogie late into the night.
The Blues Kitchen is a hub for funk and soul music in Deansgate. This famous chain of funk and soul bars in the UK has quickly become one of the best places in Manchester for a late night party. One thing that is amazing about The Blues Kitchen is that it provides good opportunities for local and young artists to perform. The Manchester’s Got Soul events on Fridays have live funk and soul bands and DJs to keep you going till 2am. Whether you go to The Blues Kitchen for a club night, gig or a burger (they’re awesome, by the way), it will be a good night!
Located on Oxford Road near the Manchester Aquatics Centre and opposite the Manchester Metropolitan University, The Bread Shed is a rising power in the Manchester nightlife. It’s very popular with students because of the techno, d’n’b and alternative music club nights, bringing something different to some of the more Indie or pop focused night clubs in Manchester. From live music and board game nights to bottomless brunches, it all happens here.
Bringing Mexican late night culture to Manchester is El Capo. Found in the Northern Quarter, El Capo is one of the pillars of nightlife in the area. Providing Mexican street food, tequila induced cocktails and the very best of soul and hip-hop music in the Northern Quarter, El Capo is an excellent choice whether you are looking for somewhere to eat, have a couple of drinks or a late night boogie!
Around the areas of Cheetham Hill and the Green Quarter (north of Manchester’s city centre) lies one of the most popular clubs in Manchester. Specialising in house, techno, bassline and UK garage genres, Hidden has become extremely popular over the years for offering a new space for music in Manchester. It has four club rooms, while upstairs and the warehouse provides an exhibition space, and accompanying creative areas for those who love making art and music. Be sure not to miss the all-day summer events in the garden as these are the best day to night parties in the city!
This small bar tucked away to the side of the University of Manchester campus on Oxford Road is perfect for late night drinks. It has plenty of lovely Belgian and German beers available and the staff make it a very friendly place to have a relaxed drink. The best thing about Big Hands is its hidden rooftop terrace, which is perfect for those hot late evenings in the summer. There is always something going on in this niche bar. If you go once, it will quickly become a favourite of yours!

The Liars Club is a tucked away tropical themed bar that has Captain Lyndon Higginson making the finest Caribbean-style cocktails in Manchester. Situated in Deansgate, close to the People’s Museum and on the side near the Salford border to Manchester, the Liars Club is dominated by the sound of afrobeat, reggae and hip-hop music, bringing a refreshing change to Manchester’s late night sounds. The Liars Club is to be found in the basement of the building, taking you away from the stress of the city.
Still a fairly young establishment in Manchester, YES is a growing and loved institution. YES is unique because it offers so much to do, accommodating for any sort of night you and your friends want. If you are looking for a big night out, the Pink Room will have you covered with plenty of funk, soul and disco party music playing through the speakers. The Pink Room also has a lot of cool gigs on there, so it is worth checking out the calendar. Meanwhile, the basement room has more alternative electronic music, from drum and bass to French electronica. The upstairs room and terrace has a more chilled atmosphere, allowing there to be space for sit down drinks. In addition, whilst you are dancing you can order some of fabulous pizzas at the counter. Not many places have a pizza oven next to the dance floor!
