Coffee lovers, this one's for you.

There’s no better way to consume espresso than in the form of dessert. After commencing our search for Auckland’s best tiramisu, we’ve compiled a list of our favourites below.

Mezze Bar
cuisinesMediterranean

First up, we have Mezze Bar. Tucked away on Durham Street, you’ll find this cosy Mediterranean restaurant. It’s low-lighting, vintage interior, and candlelit tables make for an ideal date night or pre-show dessert spot. Amongst their extensive cake and dessert menu is their legendary tiramisu. Prepare for the salivation to begin, as you’re presented with a thick slice showcasing layers of classic Italian style coffee trifle, mascarpone cream, and a generous cocoa dusting. The flavours are then enhanced further with the addition of zabaglione – a light Italian custard.

Dante’s Pizzeria
cuisinesItalian

With five locations, Dante’s Pizzeria brings authentic Italian flavours to many Aucklanders. Although their popular dining spots are known for fantastic pizza and pasta, don’t forget about their heavenly tiramisu. This dish will undoubtedly hit the spot, made using Savoiardi biscuits, cream, mascarpone, Segafredo coffee, and dusted with chocolate.

Venosa’s authentic Italian dining experience wouldn’t be complete without their Tiramisu for dessert. After you’ve worked your way through their delicious cocktail meatballs, rigatoni with slow-cooked pork ragu, and Italian sausage and peppers pasta, make a beeline to the Tiramisu and choose between their traditional classic recipe or their Limoncello style for a citrus twist.

Since opening ten years ago, Coco’s Cantina has made its mark on the Auckland dining scene. Known for dishing up insane Italian food, you can count on owners Renee and Damaris to have tiramisu on their menu. This flavoursome dish, made with Eightthirty coffee, is served as a generous slice on a rustic plate. Such presentation truly showcases their home-made style approach. With a taste so true to tradition, you may just transport yourself to Italy with each bite.

With its name meaning ‘meatballs’ in Sicilian, Baduzzi truly tests your ability to leave room for dessert. If you manage to resist ordering an extra plate of handcrafted meatballs or handmade pasta, we highly recommend their tiramisu. Rather than sticking to the traditional presentation, Baduzzi switches things up by placing their Baileys & amaretto-infused cake inside an aesthetic wafer cylinder. To match such an impressive appearance, the dish is packed with mascarpone and biscuit chunks. So, if you’re up for a classic with a twist, this is the spot for you.

Miann Chocolate Factory
cuisinesDessert

Such creativity continues with Miann Chocolate Factory’s latest edible tiramisu coffee cup. Now, we aren’t just talking about some amateur look alike, but, in fact, a delicate chocolate replica that could easily pass as a legit takeaway cup at first glance. After filling your camera with artsy photos, it’s time to crack the lid open with your spoon. Inside you’ll be greeted with a combination of marsala and coffee cream, espresso-soaked sponge, and of course, mascarpone. With their menu frequently evolving, you want to get in quick!

Prego Restaurant
cuisinesItalian

Lastly, we have the iconic Prego Restaurant. This Ponsonby gem has been serving incredible Italian cuisine since 1986. With years of experience, you can certainly say that they’ve mastered the art of making traditional desserts such as tiramisu. Served in a glass, on a simple white plate, the flavours will do all the talking. As you dig your spoon into a smooth layer of cocoa-dusted mascarpone, you’ll meet that heavenly coffee-soaked goodness. With an option to takeaway, you can choose to swap the heels for slippers and enjoy this decadent treat cosied up in front of Netflix.
