O’Neill’s on Hanover Street is a key location during Liverpool’s St Patrick’s Day celebration, as it is the last stop of the annual parade which takes place on St Paddy’s Day itself. You can either join the parade and head over to O’Neill’s at 3pm when the parade ends or skip the queues and find a seat and a pint early. On St Patrick’s Day, O’Neill’s will be packed with revellers enjoying everything from the Irish live music and atmosphere to the pub grub and whiskey shots – you’ll almost feel like you are in Ireland itself.

Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle has become a hotspot in recent years, with local businesses popping up all over the area. One of the go-to places in the Baltic Triangle is the Baltic Market, which is actually Liverpool’s first street food market, where you can find plenty of local street vendors who sell everything from pizza and halloumi fries to dim sum and desserts. The Baltic Market is also known for its extravagant events including the St Patrick’s Day Weekender, which is a pay-on-the-door event (£5) running from Wednesday to Sunday. Here you will find an unlimited helping of Guinness, pop-up Irish whiskey bars, plenty of food and a talented Irish band to keep you going to the wee hours of the morning (or until 12am when it closes).

If you prefer a more traditional celebration, then head to the only Irish bar in the Baltic Triangle – Punch Tarmey’s, where you will feel as though you are on the Emerald Isle itself. Here, the shenanigans typically run from 11am – 3am on the Saturday before or after St Patrick’s Day. Punch Tarmey’s celebrations include Irish pub grub, good craic, live music, and of course gallons of Guinness. You can even get a pint with your face printed on, and if you enter the St Patrick’s Day raffle, you could be in with a chance of winning a trip to Dublin for some more Irish celebrations.

Birdies Bar is another Baltic Triangle favourite, known for its funky cocktails, tropical vibes, live music and street food that keeps the Liverpool locals coming every weekend. Birdies also hosts a St Patrick’s Day Bonanza and in previous years, the event was £5 on the door, which included a pint of Guinness or an Irish cocktail. They also offered an array of street food, live entertainment and giveaways which also included a trip to Dublin! This year should be just as exciting, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for upcoming Paddy’s Day announcements. To secure a spot for the Irish festivities, you should consider booking online in advance to avoid disappointment.

One of the best places to celebrate St Patrick’s Day is Flanagan’s Apple, which is located on Matthew Street. The street is not only famous for its Beatles’ association, as Flanagan’s Apple is popular in the pub’s own right. It has established itself as one of Liverpool’s best Irish bars, as you will find tasty food, good company, all the sports channels, unlimited drinks and plenty of festivities – so it’s no wonder it’s always packed on St Patrick’s Day. If you want to get a prime spot in front of the big screens, you are best booking a table in advance, as this will save you the hassle of queuing for hours.
