Prego serves up beautifully traditional and contemporary Italian dishes but they take a page from the UK with one of their desserts. The sticky date pudding. Once you’ve devoured your body weight in pasta, it’s time for a sweet finish.

On their menu you’ll find their sticky date pudding under the title Dolce Di Datteri which translates from Italian to mean sweet of dates. Prego nails this dish; the dates create a perfectly moist and sticky sponge cake that melts in your mouth. It’s then served with pears, ginger spiced ice cream and a drizzle of hot caramel over the top.

Prego recommends you pair this delicious treat with a fine glass of wine, the De Bortoli Noble One Botrytis Semillon ’16 is a great match.

Corelli's Café
cuisinesCafé

Corelli’s Café is well-known for their divine selection of home-style food, serving up a dish for every meal of the day. They also have a fantastic range of baked goods to go, if you’re in a hurry. There’s an option for every craving, sweet or savoury.

Their sticky date pudding is a standout dessert on the menu. The trick is to lather the pudding with Corellis’ homemade warm toffee sauce as soon as it’s out of the oven. This allows the pudding to absorb the sauce and makes the sponge even more moist. Corelli’s Café then serves the pudding with fresh cream that melts across the dessert. The fresh cream helps balance the sweetness of the pudding and toffee sauce.

Frasers is a well-known name to those who frequent Mount Eden Village. With a wide selection of cabinet food and a fresh a la carte menu all day round there’s something for everyone. But it would be rude to visit Frasers without treating yourself to one of their legendary cakes.

They have made a legendary name for themselves with their indulgent desserts. It’s no surprise their sticky date pudding is highly regarded. The warm, succulent cake is served with poached pears, sesame tuille, salted caramel and toasted almonds. The salted caramel sauce adds an extra layer of moisture to the already insanely soft cake and it gives the sweet dish an edge that’s unforgettable.
