Bottomless brunches are the weekend’s reward for a week well done!
It’s little wonder that bottomless brunches have taken off on the Gold Coast. Combine delicious mid-morning meals, free-flowing booze and a group of loved ones and you’ve got the recipe for a really great time. Check out our picks of the best bottomless brunches the GC has to offer.
Fancy a little sea spray with your Sunday bubbles? Then The Tropic is the balcony to be sitting on.
We love the Burleigh Pavilion, looking out to Surfers Paradise, watching the waves and the surfers, smelling the salt air. On the last Saturday of each month, you can enjoy this at the same time as The Tropic’s monthly bottomless brunch.
The menu is elegant: oysters, wagyu bresaola, king prawns, plum tart to finish. The most difficult choice you will have is whether to add Veuve or Chandon to the bottomless package.
The Tropic has that cool Burleigh vibe so grab a table, relax and be thankful that you’re at the ‘quiet’ end of the Goldie. Be sure to book ahead though, seatings start at 11am.
Dish Cult’s top pick: Bottomless brunch ($75 per person, and add bottomless Chandon $54 or $84 for Veuve)
Instead of brunch, why not go for a bottomless high tea at the QT Gold Coast? It’s certainly not your granny’s high tea, so grab your culinary hats because the offerings are out of this world: we loved the Watermelon and granny smith consume as well as the Vodka and beetroot cured Atlantic salmon with dill creme fraiche and lightly pickled baby cucumber on a housemade blini.
Don’t forget to nibble from the sweeter side of the three tiers either, especially the Vanilla dacquoise, caramelised apple and pomme verte parfait with a chocolate stalk. Need we say more?
Now you could go the one glass of Champagne route, but why would you when you can go bottomless with all the Aperol, elderflower or ruby spritz your heart desires.
Dish Cult’s top pick: Bottomless high tea ($80 per person, 2 hour free-flow)
If you don’t feel like breakfast fare at brunch time, head to Mr. Hizola’s where, between 12pm and 4pm on the weekends, you can sup on a lunch bowl and sip on free-flowing Shaojiu spritz (or tap beer) for two hours.
If you don’t know Mr Hizola’s then you are in for a Cantonese treat. The food is light, refreshing and provides a thoroughly modern twist on old faves. Lucky for us, the Kung pao chicken is one of the offerings available for brunch. We liked the vegetarian spring rolls and the Yang Yang crispy beef. Naturally we had to have the Yang Zhou fried rice too.
The spritz choices were a little more challenging but we settled on elderflower and watermelon. Don’t be afraid to be tempted by what’s off the menu, and slurp up a couple of Mr Hizola’s fabo cocktails too.
Mr Hizola’s is a great place for people watching and you might find yourself still there in time for an early dinner. Hey, it’s the weekend, right?
Dish Cult’s top pick: Bottomless brunch ($60 per person, two hour free-flow)
From 11am on Saturdays and Sundays, there is no better place to be on the Gold Coast than Hyde Paradiso, because with Beachside brunch you are guaranteed oceanfront seating, and it doesn’t get much better than that.
While the view is Australian sublime, the decor is Mediterranean fresh: white, cool and comfy. Long counters and tables offer a great mix to suit all party sizes.
And the food is equally as impressive. Choose from a short but delicious menu featuring eggs benny hash with truffle honey hollandaise, popcorn prawns with tomato chutney, a refreshing charred chicken and peach salad, or the pork belly and feta focaccia pizza.
The bottomless part of brunch goes for two hours and you can choose between Chandon Brut, Chandon Rosé, or spritzes of the Aperol, limoncello or bellini variety. We’ll drink to that!
Dish Cult’s top pick: Beachside brunch ($99 per person, two hour free-flow)
While most bottomless brunches require booking, at Elk Espresso you can walk straight off the beach and straight into a Boozy brunch from 10am till 2pm every day of the week.
The offering is pretty simple here, choose any dish on the menu, from the signature Breakfast burger to the indulgent Gingerbread waffles, and for $45 more you will receive a free-flow of mimosas for one hour. The mimosas come in three versions – classic, strawberry lime or tropical – and they all make the perfect morning tipple.
You shouldn’t leave without trying the coffee either as the folk at Elk are pretty serious about the stuff and use their own blend roasted by Parallel Roasters. It’s a guaranteed great start to the day!
Dish Cult’s top pick: Boozy brunch (One dish off the menu plus $45 for one hour of unlimited mimosas)
