It’s easy to feel helpless given the news recently, but there is a way you can support those in need in Ukraine and flood victims at home.

Some of Melbourne’s favourite restaurants and local businesses are aiming to raise thousands by putting together a fundraising event and bumper raffle, with all proceeds going to humanitarian aid in Ukraine and flood victims in Australia.

Head to 1800 Lasagne in Thornbury on Sunday, who have organised the event under the banner of 1800 Relief. You will be greeted by a market-style atmosphere featuring a sausage sizzle by The Fitzroy Feast, ice-cream scoops from Ice Cream Social, Carmelo’s Pizza, Mali Bakes cakes and Everyday filter coffee. There’s also a marketplace with fresh produce from Melbourne Farmers Market and Northside Fruit and Veg, as well as a who’s who of local producers including All are Welcome bread, Mount Zero olives, Gewurzhaus spices and L’Anima Cucina biscotti.

Drinks purveyors Blackheart & Sparrows and Six Parallels South wine will also be there. And if you’re looking for a gift or something special for yourself, you can get Clothing by Candice for you, Adele Macer ceramics and Flowers Vasette.

But if you can’t get there and still want to help, you can buy a raffle ticket online with nearly $10,000 worth of prizes up for grabs. Amongst the goodies, including a private baking workshop from cake supremos Beatrix Bakes and Aletheia & Phos jewellery, are restaurant vouchers to some of our favourite places including Joanie’s Baretto and Umberto’s Espresso Bar.

All funds raised will go to the Voices of Children Foundation, Razom and World Central Kitchen and HIAS for Ukraine. At home, funds will be donated to the SES and Bundjalung Community Flood Relief Fund.
