You do-nut want to miss this…
If you’re a fan of all things round, deep-fried, glazed with sticky icing or stuffed with creamy fillings, then you need to get to the Queen Victoria Market this weekend.
On Saturday June 4 and Sunday June 5, Melbourne’s iconic food destination is hosting a festival in praise of donuts of every variety.
As you’d expect, the OG hot jam donuts from American Doughnut Kitchen will be on offer, but that’s just the beginning.
You’ll also find savoury donuts, donuts with Greek origins (loukoumades from St Gerry’s), donuts that hail from Spain (churro bowls from Churro Kitchen), Danish donuts (from Jamm’d Dessert Bar), donuts for the gluten intolerant, donuts for vegans, donuts for chocolate fiends and many, many more.
Some of the other donut dealers who will be at the deep fryers include Shortstop Coffee and Donuts, OMG Decadent Donuts and Pasta Face.
The good news is, whatever the weather, you’ll be undercover at the Queen Vic and there’s not really any such thing as a bad donut!
When: Saturday 4 & Sunday 5 June, 9am – 4pm
Where: Rear of K and L Shed, Queen Victoria Market
And now, because a polar vortex is upon us, some gratuitous images of donuts for your viewing pleasure:
