Pub gardens in Bristol

Described as a little bit of Cornwall in Bristol, The Albion is a popular pub in the heart of Clifton Village. We love this snug little bolt hole come the winter months due to their open fires and comfy, sofas to melt into, but come the summer the courtyard provides a little escape from the bustling cafes and arcade beyond their threshold. Large benches to accomodate groups, bright plants and an all important retractable roof for those summer days that don’t cooperate, The Albion provides some much needed access to the outside to be enjoyed with a pint of Cornwalls finest ales and plates of traditional and locally sourced food.

If you like your pub gardens to have a better view than a car park and tired children’s play equipment, you can’t do much better than Mud Dock. With glorious elevated views across the historic Bristol harbour, you can spend hours boat and wildlife spotting whilst enjoying a cold beer and a selection of delicious food on their menu. The decking itself has plenty of cover from parasols for those that take sun damage seriously which also means your cool, crisp beer won’t warm up as quickly.

Talking of views, you can see almost to the Mendips on the main terrace at Bambalan! This bar loves to party and regularly has live DJ’s spinning tunes whilst you dance under fairy lights drinking fine cocktails. If the terrace isn’t doing it for you, you can also hangout by the table tennis, watching the comings and goings at Colston Hall, or head to the other side where you have another prime view over the city centre. Don’t forget to try one of their Mediterranean inspired dishes from the menu, the meat “babs” and small bar snacks will keep you fuelled for alfresco dining all night long.

Keeping on the theme of rooftop imbibing, The Old Market Assembly has made the most of the space they have and transformed the upstairs, outside space into one of our favourite hidden outdoor gems. Packed full of greenery, seating and chilled vibes, this terrace is the perfect place to enjoy a pint of locally brewed beer and one of their freshly made pizzas on a balmy summer’s day whilst catching up with friends or making new ones sat on the row of benches taking centre stage. If things get chilly, head inside to enjoy live music, drag acts and incredible food, there really is something for everyone here.
