Going out for dinner is one of our favourite things. A bargain is pretty damn close behind it. Which is why we’ve mixed the two together and set you up with some of the best places for pre-theatre in Belfast. Whether it’s fine dining, or a fun time, it’s all on this list.

The merging of James Street South and The Bar and Grill at James St., this restaurant carries on the tradition of great fine dining that owner Niall McKenna promotes in all his venues. With some of the best pre-theatre in Belfast, the menu is available Monday to Saturday (yes Saturday!) between 16.30-18.30 and is just £18.50 for two courses. Treat yourself to ham hock, grilled plaice, and even a cheeseboard on the dessert menu at no surcharge. Anywhere that’s free and easy with the cheese is a winner in our books.

2 courses – £18.30
3 courses – £21.50

One of Belfast’s quirkiest restaurants, Made in Belfast City Hall is a riot of colour, mismatched furniture, and great characters. And great deals. Between 4pm and 6pm, Monday to Friday, and 12p and 6pm Saturday and Sunday, you can enjoy their delicious food for just £17.50 for two courses. (Not December though. Sorry revellers.) Their pre-theatre menu has all the flavour of their full menu, featuring chicken liver parfait, and their famous Irish rump steak. Trust us, this place is rare.
