Tiger Burger has set down roots on Dominion Road, making this their second location in Auckland; the first being their Great North Road spot in Grey Lynn.

The Asian Fusion burger joint has been overwhelmingly well-received in the area, and we imagine the Auckland food enthusiasts who frequent Dominion Road will be very happy to dig into the new cuisine.

Tiger Burger specialises in the beautiful fusion of Korean cuisine and Western-street food, focusing on burgers. Incorporating key flavours that will tantalise the taste buds and leave you wanting more. The menu showcases Tiger Burger’s prowess with juicy, decadent and delicious burgers that have easily stolen the heart of everyone who has walked through the door.

The restaurant itself is sleek and hip with black and white walls, the occasional animal print thrown into the mix and a handful of wooden tables. The no-fuss, relaxed restaurant is the perfect balance between fast-food and fancy; an ideal location for a late-night bite, week-day catch-up or an after-work treat. Especially when you throw in a few delicious cocktails; you will never want to leave.

Take your dinner home or get cosy in the restaurant with a cocktail in hand, we recommend the rosey tiger with classic soju, Yakult, Fentimans rose lemonade. There are other options available, including boutique beers, wine and non-alcoholics.

The burgers are insanely delicious, including the Yachae vegetarian burger made with a kumara and carrot fritter, edamame, guacamole, creamy slaw and egg-free mayo. It is everything you could need and more. The other veggie option is the dubu, with tofu, yang nyum glaze, crushed peanuts, pickled mu, shredded lettuce and gochujang mayo. Your stomachs will thank us; these burgers are easily some of the best we have ever had.

For the meat-eaters, you’ve truly been spoilt for choice, with double-fried chicken thigh, signature blend New Zealand grass-fed beef and slow-braised pulled pork. The old boy is mouth-watering in all of its glory, pairing both the signature blend NZ grass-fed beef patty and the slow-braised pulled pork with caramelised onions, aged cheddar, rice vinegar pickles and mayo. Other stand-out options are the double kimcheese, which will drip cheese-y goodness down your hands, and the gang-jeong with a chilli-soy glaze and pickled mu.

If you want to ease into the new flavours, we suggest the classic-style burger known as the basic; picture a cheeseburger; beef patty, cheese, lettuce, ketchup and mayo – simple, check, delicious, check.

While the burgers will take you out of commission, we highly suggest saving some stomach space for Tiger Burger’s side dishes. A few popular options include hash bites, kumara fries, bibimbap slaw and chicky fries. The latter pairs fried chicken, shoestring fries and white onions tossed in a secret spicy sauce – taking loaded fries to a whole new level.

For something lighter, opt for the chicken Ssam salad, which is colourful, fresh and incredibly flavourful. The fried chicken is served with kimchi, shredded cabbage and honey garlic mayo.

And finally, finish your visit with something sweet; the banana chapsal doughnuts are crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside, served with condensed coconut milk. Tiger Burger also has deep-fried Oreos and chocolate sauce on the menu for a limited time only.

Tackling Tiger Burger’s menu will take more than one visit, and we cannot wait to work our way through every single dish! You can get your Tiger Burger fix at 549 Great North Road, Grey Lynn or at their brand new location : 590 Dominion Road, Mount Eden.
