Love, care and generosity.
These are the core values of Lone Star, the beloved New Zealand restaurant franchise that has stolen hearts and serenaded stomachs all across the country. The iconic and homegrown brand showcases the best NZ has to offer.
Auckland’s restaurant scene is slowly returning to what it once was. We are welcoming new faces into the hospitality industry and gaining amazing eateries every day!
Lone Star is leading the resurgence with its new location on Queens Street within the Mercure hotel. Eagerly waiting to welcome tourists and locals back with open arms and a delicious menu. Having many years under its belt and a loyal following, it is safe to say we are in good hands. This will be Auckland’s 5th Lone Star site and a whopping 18th site nationwide.
Lone Star’s National Operations Manager, Paul Steiner, is more than ready to take the reins and revitalise the CBD.
The new boutique restaurant will seat 50 and offer delivery via Uber Eats and Delivereasy, as well as a click and collect option. For those lucky few that will be staying at the Mercure hotel, you will be able to get Lone Star as part of room service. For fellow Kiwi’s, it is a comforting taste of home and for our international friends, it is a delicious introduction to our classic dishes.
On the menu, you will find a lot of popular Lone Star signature dishes; because our opinion is, you don’t fix things if they are not broken. Am I right? This will include the Dixie chicken, redneck ribs, lassoo hog and the legendary Johnny cash stash.
The menu features the finest ingredients in town, with high-grade vegetables, free-range chicken and eggs, and grass-fed NZ beef. For those with dietary requirements, there are plenty of flexible options to keep the whole group happy.
Starting with the crowd favourite, the Johnny cash stash, this is an insanely tasty dish. The free-range chicken breast is stuffed with mushrooms, spinach, cheese and sun-dried tomatoes. Then it is herb-crusted and oven-baked. Is your mouth watering yet? The dish is served with chunky mushroom sauce, buffalo chips and Lone Star coleslaw.
Other dishes available are the Blue Pacific fish ‘n’ chips, stir-crazy sirloin cooked to your liking and the prawn star. The latter pairs tiger prawn cutlets sauteed in garlic with chilli, coriander butter and a side of basmati rice and green salad.
Calling all sweet-toothed diners, the dessert menu is swoon-worthy and seemingly endless. Get your fix of sugary pies like the banoffee or lemon meringue. Or stick to the tried-and-true crème brûlée or Kiwi pavlova. If you like your dessert with a bite of liquor, we recommend the Jack Daniel’s chocolate fudge cake is irresistible. The rich, self-saucing chocolate fudge pudding is laced with Jack Daniel’s and served with chocolate sauce, fresh Chantilly cream and premium vanilla bean ice cream. It is a chocolate explosion but no complaints here!
Lone Star has always been and will always be a restaurant that prioritises fun and value for money. It is a home away from home, with even better food. Book a table in advance and get the family together to bask in a truly Kiwi experience.
Lone Star Queen Street has also promised to debut its first-ever breakfast menu in the coming months. Keep an eye out; this is sure to be a sell-out.
You’ll find Lone Star at 500 Queen Street in the Auckland CBD, inside the Mercure Hotel.
