Some burgers get a lot of hype, but we know one in Melbourne’s west that’s an under the radar winner.

So good is the New Yorker burger at Williamstown’s Burger Culture, we’re making it our must-try dish of the week.

Is that the full name?

Yeap, it’s just “New Yorker” on the menu.

Where do you get it?

Burger Culture, 3 Cole St, Williamstown VIC 3016

Why is it a winner?

Forget fish and chips in the seaside suburb of Williamstown, and head to Cole Street, just off busy Nelson Place, for burgers. Burger Culture has, for a very long time with very little fanfare, made some of Melbourne’s most outstanding burgers. We love the New Yorker, not just for the juicy Angus beef patty topped with Swiss cheese inside a crusty bun, but the caramelised onion, house mayo and tomato relish all combine to create a perfectly delicious burger storm. Get a serve of rosemary-dusted chips, head down to Commonwealth Reserve, and enjoy the view of the city’s skyline knowing that you’re eating one of the least-known best burgers in the city.

Anything else to know?

While it might be stretching the friendship to call burgers “healthy”, Burger Culture’s are distinctly of the non-greasy variety. You can also go low carb with no bun, get gluten-free bread and the veggie burgers are also really great here. And that’s healthier than a lot of other things, right?
