Is there anything better than Easter eggs and chocolate?
We don’t think so! From a box of chocolate sardines to chocolate-covered hot cross bites, from brightly wrapped eggs in a carton to an artisanal truffle making workshop, there is no shortage of egg-ceptional chocolate gifts on offer this Easter, and we’ve rounded up Melbourne’s best.
If you want to truly spoil yourself this Easter, Koko Black is the place to go.
The iconic Aussie chocolatier has outdone itself with its collection of chocolate eggs, creatures, and other assorted treats. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by choice, but you can’t go wrong with eggs filled with flavours like pistachio and orange zest or raspberry crunch.
You can even taste the flavour of Easter with chocolate covered bites which come in Hot cross bun, Golden apricot and Carrot cake. Yum!
Dish Cult’s top pick: Hot cross bites ($18.90)
Located in Brunswick East, Monsieur Truffe prides itself on the quality of its chocolate and offers a small but beautifully made range of Easter treats that make other chocolate eggs look decidedly average.
You’ll know you’re very loved if you receive one of Monsieur Truffe’s coated eggs which come in Dark black forest, Milk funfetti and White bounty flavours.
There’s also a super cute collection of mini chocolate bunnies and adorable sardines that make perfect Easter gifts. And with lots of gluten free and vegan options, you’ll find something for everyone.
Dish Cult’s top pick: Large dark black forest Easter egg ($35)
If you’re serious about chocolate,
Ratio Cocoa Roasters needs to be on your radar.
Ratio’s Easter collection is delightfully unpretentious with classic mini and large eggs as well as adorable cartoon style bunnies, available with a soft marshmallow filling.
The good news is all of the chocolate at Ratio is made from ethically sourced cacao and is preservative and refined sugar free. That probably means you can eat more!
If you’re after a chocolatey gift with a difference, Ratio runs truffle making and chocolate tasting workshops that will really impress the chocoholic in your life.
Dish Cult’s top pick: Mixed chocolate eggs ($14)
Belgian chocolatier Godiva comes with a royal seal of approval, and you’ll know why when you step inside its flagship Emporium store.
This Easter, they have played on the idea of a dozen chicken eggs by using a cute carton and wrapping them in beautiful and vibrant coloured foil. Utilitarian but make it chocolate!
Along with plain chocolate bunnies, almond eggs, and crispy shelled praline eggs you’ll find flavours such as raspberry cream, white choc biscuitine and speculoos mousse. These are Easter chocolates to give someone you want to impress as even the packaging is delightful.
Dish Cult’s top pick: Dozen Belgian eggs assorted ($24)
Australia’s oldest family-run chocolate maker, Adelaide import Haigh’s Chocolates knows what it’s doing at Easter time.
Haigh’s has gone large this Easter and is offering a huge range of products from eggs of every size to delicious chocolate Murray Cod, playful eggs with a froggy surprise, to the ever-important icon of Australian Easter, the Easter Bilby.
This is the chocolate you bring home to your loved ones, there are shapes, colours, and sizes for the whole family to enjoy (and maybe some extras you keep for yourself).
Dish Cult’s top pick: Easter Bilby gift tin ($16.90)
