Let’s start with one of London’s oldest Japanese restaurants – Chisou. Famous for its extensive sake list (make sure to order one with your food), Chisou has a reputation for Japanese food as you would find it in Japan. With locations in Mayfair and Knightsbridge, Chisou provides a fantastic selection of super fresh sushi or sashimi served at the counter. We’d recommend one of the sushi selections, particularly the Moriawase Sushi which offers nine pieces of nigiri and six pieces of maki.

Husband and wife chef team, Tamas and Tomoko, host up to 10 guests at their intimate wood counter in Mayfair. Their restaurant Roji uses super seasonal British produce, and they create a unique menu that celebrates the fish, vegetables, fruit and meat produced by a handful of small passionate farmers. The food is based on Japanese principles of cooking; grilling, simmering, steaming, frying and cutting. The omakase-style menus include a sushi course and can be paired with a hand-picked selection of sake and wine. Not one to miss.
