Satisfying your late-night cravings has never been easier.

Christchurch has a delicious selection of eateries ready to cater to the night owl crowd.

King of Snake is a modern eatery that specialises in creative cuisine that combines the popular flavours found in Korean, Chinese and Southeast Asia. We love this restaurant for midweek catch-ups and intimate dinners; the red-accented space is sleek and sophisticated with a relaxed ambience. Grab a selection of plates for the table and experience the different styles and flavours. The marinated chicken wings, sticky beef wontons and Chatham Island crayfish dumplings in supreme broth are great small plates to get the night started. The menu also showcases King of Snake’s expertise in exciting salads; the grilled seafood salad is refreshing and tangy with lime green chilli, lettuce and green beans. King of Snake is open 12pm – 12am every day; on Saturdays, they go until 1am.

The weekends are for 5th Street eatery; the courtyard has witnessed many a long night out. The airy and relaxed restaurant is our go-to for casual nights out dedicated to delicious food and boozy cocktails. The menu focuses on fresh quality ingredients that complement each other perfectly; the homely cuisine always leaves people wanting more. The menu has small, medium and large dishes, ideal for sharing, grazing or dining solo. A few crowd-pleasers are the triple cooked potatoes with parmesan and béarnaise sauce, slow-cooked lamb shoulders and Angus steak tartare. 5th Street is open from 4.30pm until late, perfect for late-night visits.

Heavenly authentic Mexican cuisine and sour margaritas are the way to our hearts. Mexicano’s has it all, and we can’t say no to a late-night visit. The vibrant, lively and fun atmosphere make this one of Christchurch’s most popular spots. For dinner, dine upon an array of soft-shell tacos with delectable fillings like fire-grilled flank steak, pulled pork or slow-roasted lamb shoulder. There are also enchiladas, ensalada, verduras and more. Wash dinner down with spiced pineapple margarita or a cold Corona. Mexicano’s is open from 5 pm – late, feeding the night owls of Christchurch all week long.

Found in the trendy little food court known as Little High Eatery is a variety of restaurants; our go-to is Base Woodfired Pizza. What once started as a family dinner evolved into one of Christchurch’s best pizzerias. The family-run business has perfected the art of woodfired pizzas. The toppings are fresh and locally sourced, providing the best ingredients in town. The pizzas range from classics like pepperoni, butter chicken and Margherita. If you are after something slightly different, we recommend the mushroom and feta with a garlic base, olive oil, mozzarella, feta, mushroom and thyme. For sides, there are brisket and gravy loaded fries, poutine, salads and mac & cheese hash browns. Base Woodfired Pizza is open from 11 am – late every day.

Meat, meat and more meat. Bessie is an entirely new experience dedicated to the glory that is meat. Specialising in dry-aged meat finished on a charcoal oven, the flavour is unforgettably unique. The menu showcases top graded cuts of meat from nose to tail from Waitaha Wagyu eye fillet to dry-aged T-bone. Pair your meat of choice with a sauce; your options include seaweed butter, red wine jus, white peppercorn and more. Every single item on the menu is luxurious, rich and tasty. There is also market fish, celeriac confit and free-range Canterbury chicken available. Bessie is open 5.30 pm to late.
