Two words: Gin Trees.
You heard that right, Gin trees are coming to the Viaduct, and this is one tree we most definitely want to climb.
The Gin tree is a cocktail extravaganza that is both exciting to look at and even better to drink. These Gram-worthy creations are making waves! The two new offerings are the embodiment of summer; fresh and fruity. Whether you want to show your significant other a night to remember, or you are catching up with friends on the weekend, these trees are sure to impress.
The Fox is a charming, contemporary London-inspired pub located in the heart of Auckland. Sitting snug in the corner of the Viaduct, amongst the iconic line-up of popular eateries; this pub is a slice of the motherland on our shores. From British bangers, classic pub-grub and cocktails with a twist – there is nowhere else we would rather be.
Being both a sports bar and stylish pub is a hard feat to pull off, yet The Fox does so seamlessly. Watch the big screen with the Queen in one room and Churchill in another. Take the family out for a hearty Sunday dinner, or grab your crew for a weekend dedicated to climbing gin tree after gin tree.
The first gin tree, named the Best of British, combines a variety of G&Ts to please all tastes. Starting with the Paddy Englishman, a fruity concoction made with Beefeater’s Blood Orange Gin, a splash of soda and dehydrated blood oranges to garnish.
Next up, the Paddy Scotsman, a refreshing and timeless G&T made with Hendricks Gin, tonic and a cucumber swirl.
Finally, the Paddy Irishman; this creative drop pairs Graham Norton Pink Gin with tonic and a slice of lemon. Pick the combination that suits your fancy, or pick two of each to create your 6-beverage gin tree!
Ring! Ring!
London’s Calling.
The London’s Calling cocktail tree kicks the flavour up a notch; these bad boys are incredible, expertly made and taste absolutely divine.
The Elderflower Gin Fizz pairs the classic flavours of Gordon’s gin with elderflower liqueur, lemon juice, soda, a slice of lemon and a sprig of mint; this cocktail is fresh and summery – perfect on a balmy day.
The Raspberry Gin Fizz also uses Gordon’s gin as a base, with raspberry liquor, lime juice, soda, fresh raspberries and a squeeze of lime; this concoction is the ideal balance of sweet and sour – it goes down too easily.
Build your tree with three of each flavour, or stick to your favourite.
Both gin trees are $60 each; however, if you can’t commit to a tree and only want one cocktail, it is $15 for each!
Before all the gin-drinking, we recommend a hearty meal to line the stomach, and The Fox has a beautiful menu of British-inspired dishes. Grab a few dishes to share, like the pork crackling, fish fingers and Masala chicken bites.
Or, head over to the main event, you won’t be disappointed. The fish and chips are a classic; the wholesome dish is simple and delicious with Fuller’s London Pride battered market fish and agria chips, smashed peas and homemade tartar sauce.
As Kiwis, we can’t resist a good pie. The pie and liquor are our personal favourite, with Angus beef, London Ale and Montgomery cheddar pie, with traditional parsley liquor and creamy mash.
You can book in at The Fox over on their website, and get ready to enjoy an afternoon in the treetops.
