Luxury Italian dining in the heart of the City of London
Housed in a spectacular grade-II listed building, the former home of the British Linen Bank, is Piazza Italiana, the breathtakingly beautiful Italian restaurant, bar and event space. With an exquisite menu made up of classic dishes from all over Italy, a chic bar serving up wine and inventive cocktails, and three striking event spaces for the most elegant celebrations, Piazza Italiana is the place to see and be seen in the heart of the City of London.
Curated by Sicilian-born culinary maestro Remo Mazzucato, who has over 50 years of Italian cooking experience, the menu is made up of antipasti, sharing plates, pasta, meat and fish dishes, driven by a young restaurant team offering a modern culinary touch.
The starters boast dishes such as Tartare di Tonno – Yellowfin tuna tartare with avocado mousse, slow-cooked egg yolk and sturgeon caviar with shallots, chives and baby parsley. For real indulgence though, look no further than the decadent and creamy Insalata di Pomodori e Burrata – oxheart tomatoes with burrata, baron red onion, capers, balsamic pearls, sweet balsamic sauce and basil.
If you’re craving pasta then you must try the star of the show – the signature Tagliolini Al Tartufo: tagliolini with creamy truffle sauce spun in a pecorino wheel at the table – it’s the ultimate Insta-worthy dish.
Other crowd pleasers include the Ravioli Al Granchio Reale – ravioli with crab meat, tomato lobster sauce and asparagus. The Ossobuco di Vitello Brasato is a must-order for traditionalists; braised cross-cut veal shanks with sofrito sauce.
Sharing plates include a cheeseboard selection and a soon-to-be launched cicchetti menu (Italian tapas), which are ideal with cocktails for the post-work crowd.
Wines have been hand-selected by the team, boasting unique options from across Italy, including the regions of Piedmont and Tuscany. The extensive list offers wines for every taste, with iconic producers and great vintages as well as classic and emerging producers from all over the world.
Cocktails are just as well thought out, with interesting serves like The Pearl – oyster and seaweed Piazza Italian gin, sharpened with botanical non-alcoholic gin and Elderflower Liqueur, garnished with sea wave foam, oysters and pearls. Being an Italian restaurant, the Negroni is a must, but Piazza Italiana’s twist is the Quercia Nero – a classic Negroni, infused with burned Italian caramelised oak and smoked with applewood at your table. Bellissima!
The second you step into this restaurant, you’ll be blown away by its stunning opulence – with high ornate ceilings, exquisite chandeliers, Neoclassical Corinthian columns and floor-to ceiling arched windows, allowing natural daylight to shine in.
The restaurant is owned by Victor Ravdive, who owns and runs the international restaurant group Resto-Rators. This is Victor’s first UK restaurant, having launched more than 30 food and beverage brands internationally and dominated the restaurant scene in his home of Latvia. It’s this experience, along with his passion for cooking and hospitality, that makes Piazza Italiana an incredible addition to London’s bustling dining scene.
And don’t forget to order that truffle pasta…
