London’s never shy of new restaurant openings, but Audrey’s has to be one of the most exciting. This brand new, all-day South London cafe bar from tvg hospitality group (the same team that brought us Flat Iron Square, Tap and Bottle, and Goods Way) has now opened its doors at London’s iconic Bankside, SE1.
Audrey’s has finally opened its doors to the public and will remain open all day for dining from 8am – 11pm, every Wednesday to Saturday, serving seasonal dishes from its bright open kitchen, with a choice of indoor and outdoor seating. With the summer flirting with London recently, Audrey’s offers one the city’s best al fresco experiences right in time for the sunshine to come.
Food at Audrey’s
The all-day a la carte menu is broken into snacks for smaller appetites and sharing plates for two or more to enjoy together. Signature dishes on the menu include mutton popcorn served with green chilli ketchup, and leek gratin with Chablis, Ogleshield fondue and parsley crumb.
Don’t worry if you’ve had a lie in because breakfast is served until 3pm, featuring favourites like avocado on toast (smashed avocado, watermelon, feta and poached egg on sourdough), and Audrey’s Cobb Salad (Market leaves, Stichelton English blue, smoked bacon and ranch dressing).
Audrey’s partners include many British sourced ingredients such as Henderson’s fish from Brixham, Swaledale’s native breeds in Yorkshire, and Shrub London for the best vegetables from 35 farms across the UK.
Drinks at Audrey’s
A menu of House and Breakfast cocktails feature on Audrey’s drinks list. Try Audrey’s Tea & Biscuits (Cognac, chai, lemon, orgeat & cardamom) and Spicy Margarita (Tequila, orange liqueur, lime, agave & jalapeño syrup) as well as breakfast cocktails including Breakfast Martini (Mum’s Marmalade Gin, Cointreau & Lemon) and Rosemary Greyhound (vodka, grapefruit juice and rosemary).
In addition to cocktails, Audrey’s drinks menu features the specialty flavours of Allpress coffee and an exciting wine list from the multi award-winning Liberty Wines. Featuring a selection from the best producers and vineyards in the world, cherry picked from renowned estates to trailblazers, exceptional organic and biodynamic labels, with of course the sustainable and carbon neutral credentials that we value so highly.
The Union Street centrepiece building, located on a pedestrian island, offers a naturally vibrant, fun and welcoming atmosphere. The standalone site was once a Victorian tram shelter, and with a location equidistant from Borough Market and Southwark Bridge, there is a wealth of Bankside’s cultural activities on its doorstep.
With a combination of banquette seating, bar stools and window counter overlooking the daily bustle, the red and white modern decor hints at ‘old-school’ London cafe with a European twist.
Start this spring as you mean to go on, take your pick from Audrey’s ample outdoors seating, where covered awnings ensure al fresco dining all year round.
