Bearing in mind Bunny Jackson’s is already cheap (they sell chicken wings at 20p), you can expect their happy hour to be top draw. Situated very near the HOME Manchester cinema and theatre, this New Orleans-styled American bar is a vibrant and cosy area. They have live American sport on, from the NFL to the NBA, and also have live music on Fridays and Saturdays, showcasing rock and blues. Their happy hour runs everyday at a relatively late time of 10pm down to 11pm. This is perfect for getting cheap drinks after eating, however you will likely be tempted by their amazing chicken or cauliflower wings. Their house pilsner goes from £4.30 to £3, house wine is £13 and a bucket of five white claw mixed seltzer is set at £15. In addition, prosecco bottles are £17 and every single boiler and slushy is just £5! Bunny Jackson’s is friendly and cosy, serving a proper happy hour, while its new sibling, Junior Jackson’s in Northern Quarter, is worth a visit too.

Did someone say two for one cocktails? Down at the Chakalaka Bar, you can get two cocktails for the price of one every single day from 4pm to 8pm. They then have another happy hour section, 10pm till close, which is also every day. Sounds good right? The Chakalaka Bar can be found on Oldham Street, one of the main roads for Northern Quarter fun. They specialise in South African food and drink. If you have never tried South African food before or are struggling to find a South African eatery, Chakalaka is the go-to place. The food is gorgeous, from biltong, boerewars roll and sosatie to koeksisters and jaffles. They also serve refreshing South African drinks to wash the food down with. Back to their cocktails, there are all sorts of South African influenced originals to choose from. Sour, fruity or sweet, there is a cocktail for everyone! Finally, don’t forget what we first mentioned – that you can get two for one cocktails! They’re delicious, non-expensive and unique, certainly winners in our eyes.

Another fine institution in the Northern Quarter, El Capo is well-known for its blend of Mexican-style street food, cocktails and music. Whether its tasty tacos or a cool bar you’re after, El Capo will certainly not disappoint. Their discounts depend on the day. Firstly, there is our favourite type of Tuesday – Taco Tuesday! On this day, tacos are discounted and range from only £1 after 5pm! Very cheap indeed. From the bad boy beef chilli to the ha ha halloumi, their tacos are absolutely delicious. Next, we have Wing It Wednesdays. From 5pm, chicken wings are only 50p! Considering that normally it would be 3 for £4, this is a top deal! Their chicken and cauli wings range from mild to super duper hot, meaning there is a wing option for everyone. Last but not least, there is the terrific Tequila Thursdays. Starting at 5pm, all their tequila menu is 50% off. Read that line again. After 5pm, you can get an El Jimador and lime shot, and a shot of cazcebal honey half price. Make sure to pick your day carefully and arrive just after 5pm to get the most out of these great deals at this fabulous Mexican establishment.

Whatever you’re in the mood for, Beefeater’s fantastic new drinks menu is ready and waiting for you. From carefully selected wines to pair with your meal, to a great range of spirits and mixers, you can have your drink exactly the way you like it. Not forgetting beers – both on tap and bottled – and plenty of low alcohol and soft drinks to choose from, too.
