A spotlight on London's Patty & Bun

Walking into Patty&Bun in London feels like stepping into a sanctuary of comfort food and cocktails. The first thing you notice is the inviting atmosphere — a friendly staff greets you with warm smiles, making you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time. The space exudes American diner vibes, complete with booth seating, diner-style wall art, ketchup bottles on the tables, and those all-important neon lights that make you feel like you’re in the heart of a food-loving city.

You’ll be shown straight to your seat, taking in the aromas of fresh hot burgers and fruity milkshakes as you go. The menu may look compact, but don’t let that fool you — it’s packed with everything you could possibly crave. Patty&Bun is indeed the home of the ultimate comfort food meal.

The fried chicken wings are a must-try, and they’ve recently added new flavours. Whether you go for the naked wings with house seasoning, the sweet and tangy BBQ sauce with green onions, or the spicy Frank’s Red Hot Buffalo wings with ranch, you’re in for a treat. These wings are everything you want them to be: perfectly crispy with a fried batter that stays crunchy, while the meat inside is juicy and tender. Pair them with one of their epic burgers, and you’re golden.

When it comes to burgers, Patty&Bun doesn’t mess around. The monthly burger specials are a hit, featuring past creations like the Usain Melt with double beef, smoked onion jam, chilli butter mayo, and double cheese, or the Secret Sandwich Shop Burger packed with an aged beef patty, pastrami, Swiss cheese, and crispy onions.

Their burgers are massive and overflowing with ingredients — so much so that you’ll need both hands (and maybe a fork). And don’t worry, the staff will ask how you want your meat cooked, ensuring the perfect burger curated for you every time.

The regular menu offers classics like cheeseburgers and elevated versions of them, as well as a Hot Chic buttermilk fried chicken burger (with marinated buttermilk fried chicken, coleslaw, pickled cucumbers, lettuce, and smoked garlic aioli) and the uniquely named Lambshank Redemption burger. This one’s a standout with tangy pickled aubergine, deep-fried baby courgette, cumin aioli, and feta. We walked away considering both top contenders for best burger in London, and we don’t say that lightly.

Vegetarians are well taken care of too, with three different plant-based burger options and a mushroom burger that’s anything but boring.

For sides, the cheese balls with XXX hot sauce will challenge your spice tolerance, while the rosemary fries with roast chicken mayonnaise (drool!) add a special savoury twist. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, the brisket-loaded fries will take your meal to the next level.

Drinks? Oh, they’ve got you covered. The cocktails here are fresh and handmade — our favourites were the classic Tommy’s Margarita, strong with a salt rim, and the Patty Rum Punch, a holiday in a glass with white and spiced rum and fresh bursts of lemon and passionfruit. If you swing by between 4 pm and 7 pm, you’ll hit their happy hour, which makes everything taste even better. And if cocktails aren’t your thing, their range of wine, beer, spirits, and even Pickleback shots (whisky and pickle juice, anyone?) should do the trick.

Finally, don’t forget dessert — or, if you’re like us, maybe just something sweet to dip your fries in. The milkshakes are a treat in themselves, with flavours like chocolate, vanilla, and the ever-popular Biscoff biscuit. It’s the perfect end to a meal that’s all about comfort, flavour, and a little bit of indulgence.

Patty&Bun isn’t just about burgers; it’s about the whole experience. From the atmosphere to the food to the drinks, it’s a spot you’ll want to return to, again and again. They ever cater to little ones with a delectable wee children’s menu, sure to keep your young’uns happy, as well as a pretty epic 12.95 weekday lunch deal for those workdays they just take it out of you.

You’ll find Patty&Bun across seven London locations, including Liverpool Street, Oxford Circus, Bond Street, Canary Wharf, Hackney Central, and Clapham Junction. Be sure to book your table with Dish Cult and get ready for one of the best burger experiences of your life!
