Exclusive review of Cafe Benedict in London

Located on quaint Teddington High Street in south west London, Cafe Benedict is an independent, family-friendly restaurant serving very popular brunches, lunches, dinners and cocktails. So we headed there ourselves to try out the most important meal of the day.

Suppliers

Run by Ben Phillips and his wonderful team, Cafe Benedict goes to great lengths to find the best local produce possible.

The coffee (which is exquisite) comes from Alchemy, while the eggs (the egg dishes here are very popular) arrive from CackleBean. Meats are sourced from HG Walter, seafood from Sandys Fishmongers and alcoholic beverages from Majestic, to name a few.

All day brunch

Brunch at Cafe Benedict takes centre stage and is served from 7am until 5pm. Expect CackleBean farm eggs on sourdough toast – poached, fried or folded – as well as boiled CackleBean farm eggs with buttered sourdough soldiers. We’d recommend the namesake though, eggs benedict: hand-cut griddled bacon (Cafe Benedict is again very popular for this on social media), poached eggs, sourdough toast and hollandaise.

There are eggy options that you might not be so familiar with too, such as eggs sobrasada (diced Iberico spiced sausage, folded egg, salsa verde and lemon on sourdough toast) and eggs paxos (folded eggs with oregano, whipped feta, grilled lemon and zaatar oil on sourdough toast).

If you have a sweet tooth though, then there’s another namesake we cannot recommend highly enough: the waffle benedict with truffle butter, hand-cut griddled bacon, maple syrup and fried egg.

Beverages

Cafe Benedict has built a bit of a rep for itself on not just its delicious brunch servings, but also its brunch cocktails. If you want a cheeky one (or two) with your brunch then you can choose from Spanish Mary (gazpacho, Absolut vodka, celery, chilli and lemon), Espresso Martini (espresso, coffee liqueur and Absolut vodka), French Martini (Absolut vodka, chambord and pineapple), Classic Mimosa (prosecco and freshly squeezed orange juice) or Peach Bellini (peach and prosecco).

Warm and friendly

Cafe Benedict is a warm and inviting place, with very friendly staff and a superb ambience. The food is delicious with plenty of options for you to keep coming back for more, and both the cocktails and coffees alike are the best around.

Ideal for catchups (the cafe’s child- and dog-friendly as well), we can’t recommend this place enough. Make your booking via the button below.
