Manchester's best fusion spots

Manchester is a city bursting with culture and a food scene that’s anything but ordinary. While traditional British dishes still have their place, fusion food is on the rise. Whether you want to try some zesty Asian fusion cuisine or a completely random mixture, there are plenty of places to explore that will get your taste buds going.

If you’re a fan of all Asian cuisine, you will love Disorder where you can indulge in the most unique and delicious dishes. It’s also the perfect lunch spot if you’re bored of your usual run-of-the-mill sandwich. Instead, you should try Disorder’s sandos, like the Japanese fried chicken peanut butter and jelly on brioche or the watermelon and halloumi on focaccia. If you’re heading to Disorder for dinner and feeling extra peckish you should try the flavourful Tokyo fries with wasabi mayonnaise and crushed wasabi peas, and the tempered sweet and sour cauliflower is good too.

Disorder not only boasts some excellent fusion dishes, but it also has a great selection of drinks down in the basement bar, including the Tokyo iced tea, which packs a punch and the chocolate orange martini – the perfect beverage for chocolate lovers. While you sip on your drink, you can enjoy the show, as there are always some great live musicians and live DJ sets playing at Disorder, so there’s never a dull moment.

Another fantastic Asian fusion spot is The George Charles, which is known for its historical setting as it’s situated in a stunning Victorian terrace on Burton Road. However, the dishes cooked inside are far from old-fashioned, as they serve up the most delicious contemporary Asian cuisine that locals and visitors love.

The food is ever-changing at The George Charles depending on the season. On the evening menu, you can choose from a range of small plates like the spicy bang bang cauliflower and the goats cheese bon bons with spicy tomato jam. If you’re a fan of sushi you will love the chef’s platters which are packed with everyone’s favourite rolls. If you fancy something bigger, you should try George’s big burger, which is packed with two beef patties, streaky bacon, swiss cheese, gherkins, house sauce and onion rings with a side of chips. If you are heading to The George Charles earlier in the day, you should try their brunch or lunch menus, which are just as delicious.
