As Samuel Johnson famously said, “When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life.” This list of the best, and coolest, restaurants in London, will keep you busy in the capital, and if you’re hanging around a particular area, take a look at our Coolest restaurants in Soho and Mayfair blogs. Now onto the pick of the best…
Basic Instagrammers alert! Here is the place where all your champagne and Instagram dreams will come true. Press the button for fizz and get that pic. They do serve other refreshments other than champagne on it’s eclectic and luxurious English and Russian menu. From White Sturgeon caviar to Baked Oysters Brezhenev (baked in black truffle and parmesan) to steak tartar to beef wellington. It doesn’t get more bougie than this. The glamorous dining room takes inspiration from the Orient Express and the Golden Age of travel. Have a sparkling night and book now! Tables get full quick and it’s best to book well in advance.
What’s cooler than being cool? “Ice cold!” The UK’s only permanent ice bar is definitely one of the coolest restaurants in London, and deserves a spot on our list due to the fact that temperatures reach “BelowZero”. Get yourself wrapped up and indulge in one of their signature cocktails mixed up by cooler than cool mixologists, who are anything but icy. Then head to their warm, welcoming restaurant to enjoy a comforting meal, offering up all your favourite dishes.
You’re bound to have a wild night at Mac & Wild’s shooting range. Famous for their Scottish hospitality and amazing Scottish food, think steak, seafood, venison or beef chateaubriand, haggis mac and cheese, and (drum roll please) whisky sticky toffee pudding. If you fancy a bit of action before dinner (naughty), book yourself into the shooting range downstairs. The lanes are available to book for just £60 per hour, Monday – Saturday, 12pm – 11pm. And each lane is equipped with two guns, so you can shoot with a pal, and you can even get into character since they have a wardrobe of dress-up shooting attire and tweed. Choose from a selection of targets (birds, deer, boar, bears), and set up competitions (you’ll probably get worse as the night goes on), whilst the rest of the group support from the sidelines enjoying a dram or three from the bar.
With a number of locations around London, including Islington and Kings Cross, they’re everywhere. Set in an old tram shed, they have a full bar as well as restaurant, ideal for lunch meetings, general get-togethers or celebrations. If you have a big celebration, this is a pretty cool place to go, they are really good at catering to group bookings, and if someone is bringing their pooch, no worries, they’re dog friendly.
