A spotlight on London's Chick'N'Sours

There are so many classic combos out there – fish & chips, bangers & mash, gin & tonic – but may we introduce you to an unsuspecting new duo…
If you’re in London and you’ve got a craving for seriously good fried chicken and a whisky sour (or three), you have to check out Chick’N’Sours. With two locations — one in Haggerston and the other in Seven Dials — this spot has been winning over fans for its simple yet genius combo: crispy fried chicken paired with expertly crafted whisky sours. Trust us, it’s a match made in heaven.

The concept is refreshingly straightforward: amazing fried chicken, and some of the best whisky sours you’ll ever have. The fried chicken is the real deal –  crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, everything you want from fried chicken. Get it on a burger with gochujang mayo, chilli vinegar, Asian slaw, & sriracha sour cream, or in tender or wing form, with your choice of their addictive dipping sauces (seriously, that blue cheese & buttermilk sauce is hard to beat).

Naturally, the menu has evolved past only serving fried chicken, and you can now sink your teeth into a delicious array of sides and small plates to create a feast. We particularly love the pickled watermelon salad and bang bang cucumbers for a vinegary bite, as well as the chicken toast (picture prawn toast, but made with chicken, chilli tamarind caramel, & green slaw), and the Mexinese nachos, a Mexican-Chinese fusion plate of corn tortillas, Szechuan chicken ragout, C’n’S nacho cheese sauce, green chilli, & kimchi. Chick’N’Sours certainly does not shy away from flavour, packing each dish with as much seasoning and taste as possible.

Now, the whisky sours. These aren’t your average cocktails. Sure, they’re made with whisky, citrus, and sugar, but Chick’N’Sours puts a fun twist on the classic with seasonal fruits, herbs, and sometimes even funky infusions. They also make sure to have a few other options of sour cocktails ,with gin, Campari, and tequila, for those who haven’t conquered whisky just yet.  Whether you’re a whisky connoisseur or just looking to try something new, you’re covered.

If you need another reason to get to Chick’N’Sours, how about their Bottomless Wings Wednesdays? For just £24, you can enjoy as many wings (and fries) as you can handle in 75 minutes, with your choice of naked, hot, or kung pao seasoning.

Yes, you read that right: all the wings you can eat. It’s the perfect midweek treat, whether you’re bringing your friends or just want to dive into a plate (or two, or three) of crispy goodness while sipping on a whisky sour. It’s hands down one of the best deals around if you’re serious about wings — and who isn’t?

Chick’N’Sours didn’t just appear out of nowhere. It was born from the minds of Carl Clarke and David Wolanski, both with a passion for combining two of their greatest passions: fried chicken and whisky sours. After making their mark in London’s food scene across a number of iconic projects, they wanted to create a place where high-quality, indulgent comfort food could be paired with expertly crafted cocktails in a fun, unpretentious environment. The restaurant offers a menu centred around crispy, flavourful fried chicken, and a creative take on the classic whisky sour, with an emphasis on fresh, seasonal ingredients and bold flavours. With two pumping locations in London now, it’s become a go-to spot for those in the know.

Each location has its own unique vibe, so depending on what you’re after, you’ve got options. The Haggerston spot is laid-back and cool, with an industrial feel that screams East London. It’s the kind of place where you can kick back, sip on a whisky sour, and enjoy a casual meal with friends or solo. It’s comfy, unpretentious, and feels like your new favourite local hangout.

Over in Seven Dials, it’s a little more polished — think Soho’s high-energy, neon-lit atmosphere. It’s still relaxed but has more of a buzz, which makes it perfect for a night out or a fun dinner date. Both places serve up the same delicious chicken and sours, but they each offer a different kind of vibe depending on where you’re at.
