Probably not the best place if your munchkins would ideally live on a diet of chicken nuggets and yoghurt, Thaikhun is a Thai restaurant that really aims to introduce new flavours. A colourful space, this restaurant is fun enough to keep the little ones entertained, and trendy enough that you’ll feel like it’s an adult-friendly space. Their kids menu is actually the full à la carte menu at half portions at half price, so they get to try all the dishes that you can. This means the whole family can have a selection of sharing dishes like chicken satay or dumplings, or choose from curries, stir fries, and lots more. The kids even get a fun magazine (made by The National Geographic!) filled with loads of facts so they can learn as they eat.
The Victoria (or the Vic as it’s known to locals) is a great space in the middle of Bath that’s perfect for all the family. A classic English pub, these guys serve up tasty roasts on a Sunday, and a variety of dishes that will suit the whole family the rest of the week. Choose from classics like mac n cheese, burgers, fish cakes, and more, and they have a great wine list for the not-so-little people. If the weather’s good, their beer garden makes the perfect place to hang out with comfy sofas for the kids to chill on as the adults enjoy that extensive wine list. Chilled enough that kids will feel really welcome, it’s also sophisticated enough to feel like you’re having a great day out, making it one of our top child-friendly restaurants in Bath.
Fancy taking the kids off on a tropical holiday? If the closest you’re going to get this year is hoping for a let-up in the rain, then let us recommend Turtle Bay for a spot of Caribbean atmosphere. Their “little turtles” menu is great for children, featuring chicken breast with Caribbean slaw, burgers, and flatbreads topped with chicken, cheese, and tomatoes. They have a great adult cocktail menu with mai tais, rum negronis, and more, and a Caribbean softs list with treats like coconut, pineapple punch, and watermelon crush, that both you and the little ones will love. The fun environment and great staff will keep the whole family entertained.
Taking your kids to the pub is one of those “great British traditions” that we’re always hearing about. (Unless you’re David Cameron…) Thankfully, things have moved on since our childhoods; kids now get to sit at the table and eat food rather than sitting under the table with a packet of crisps. A quintessential English pub, The Rose and Crown is the perfect place to head if you’re looking for child-friendly restaurants in Bath. The menu features classics like sausage and mash, and they even do a homemade pie of the day. Not far from the town centre, it’s a great spot to chill out with the children if you’re having a day in the city.
Another tasty Thai treat, Giggling Squid is an upmarket restaurant that’s child-friendly enough that you’ll all have a great time. Featuring many of the dishes from the main menu with the spice toned down, kids can enjoy mild massaman curry, pad thai noodles, pork dumplings and more. There’s even a dedicated kid’s dessert menu, useful for bribing them to eat their mains. For the adults, we’re big fans of the beef rib with coconut sauce, and the red duck curry is not to be missed. Wash it all down with a kaffir lime and ginger infused G&T, settle back and relax.
