Lala Cafe is a hidden spot in Parnell, only locals will know it and all for the right reasons, they boast $10 breakfast, all day, every day. Lalas overlooks the busy Parnell shops and is a great place to start your day with their massive pots of coffee and generous feeds. A meal under 15 dollars is unheard of in Parnell but Lala brings it together with a wide variety of kiwi breakfast staples including eggs any style, hash browns, sausages, bacon and sourdough bread, an extra 3 dollars lands you a hefty portion of chips and lets face it, chips complement any and every meal.
Town Mouse is another hidden gem of Auckland, situated in the far south suburb of Pukekohe, this cafe feels warm and inviting as you enter with a cozy outdoor garden dining area to enjoy your meal. Townmouse has a massive menu with a whole section dedicated to breakfast, and their servings are massive! The eggs benedict full portion will easily feed two people and is only 20 dollars, basically a good 10 dollar meal per person. They also have a range of smoothies and drinks, with the smoothies just taking you back 7 dollars, this is a must go for the tastebuds and the wallet!
Circus Circus shouts playfulness as you walk through, with inspirations of the theme taken from a circus as the name suggests, looks over the lively Mt Eden area, a place that’s known for its numerous food establishment. Circus Circus doesn’t clown around when it comes to their breakfast options, serving cheap and generous portions of the most loved classic brekkie meals. Their “Eggs any style” come out at a meagre 13 dollars and are quite worth the price, if that doesn’t cut it, their “sideshows” are only 5 dollars and will pack a punch. They also do a great bagel, if eggs aren’t cutting it!
The Lula Inn is a classic Auckland establishment, esteemed for its harbour views and its famous bottomless brunch, its a cozy yet classy place to get those cheap feeds. One of its most popular items and rightfully so is the bacon and egg burger, which takes parts of the classic egg bene like hollandaise and puts that under a burger bun with bacon and mushrooms. All of this for 16 dollars, making it count for the bank account and keep you energised for the rest of the spent in the bright Auckland sun.
Scratch baker is an all-time favourite for those who work on Victoria street, its an artsy cafe which is always bustling with morning coffee-goers. They bake everything from scratch and have a range of pastries of the day to enjoy. Their brioches are something special, for 6 dollars, you can grab two pieces of either the spinach and mushroom brioche or the ham and cheese, both of which will leave you satisfied for the rest of the day. By far the best and cheapest breakfast in the Auckland CBD.
