With the day of love approaching, you may find yourself needing a little inspiration or a push in the right direction for where to spend the most romantic day of the year. Don’t panic though, because here we’ve rounded up Bristol’s most romantic spots for Valentine’s Day to make that decision a little bit easier for you.
Arguably the most romantic venue in Bristol. Dine under the stars, upon the water, for this venue is a boat with an intimate top deck for al fresco dining. Moored up in Bristol harbourside, this is the most gorgeous venue with a Mediterranean tapas menu, perfect for sharing with your loved one. If it’s a bit chilly outside for your liking, the inside is cosy with a rich wood interior, perfect for snuggling up with a seasonal cocktail.
A venue with incredible 360 views of the Clifton Suspension Bridge. This is a super romantic venue both day and night. Take a morning stroll over the bridge and venture up to the Observatory for tea and cake mid morning, or rather wait until the moon is high in the sky where The Rooftop Terrace Bar will welcome you with a late night drink overlooking the bridge under the stars. Although an ideal venue for Valentine’s Day, it is worth noting this popular venue does not take bookings.
One for our artsy theatre readers, Bristol Old Vic Bar & Kitchen serves a great range of local draught beers and ciders, West Country spirits and an extensive whisky range. For a fun and intimate Valentine’s evening, we recommend heading over to the Old Vic bar, and maybe even enjoying one of the Pieminister Pies, before enjoying a live performance in the stunning theatre. With the bar open until late, you could even carry the night on post-theatre show!
Sophistication is what comes to mind when visiting The Ivy Clifton Brasserie – another venue that is sure to impress your date on Valentine’s Day. With welcoming staff that cannot do enough for you, and situated right opposite The Mall Gardens, this a gorgeous place for either Champagne brunch, or a romantic evening meal.
With local produce and healthy food, New Moon on the Quay is an independent totally dreamy, quirky venue, right on the harbourside. Owned and ran by a husband and wife team, what could be more romantic than an evening of tapas followed by a stroll along the harbour? Serving classic small plates with a modern twist, these include delicious dishes for vegans and meat eaters alike. Perfect if you and your date have totally opposing palates, because after all, opposites attract, right?
Cosy Club is in a beautiful building, making it a great venue to capture and post. We recommend visiting for a day time Valentine’s celebration to enjoy a reasonably priced and delicious bottomless brunch. The enticing menu features the delicious spiced berry pancakes, as well as shakshuka, Cali brunch and chorizo hash with unlimited drinks for just £25pp.
The Milk Thistle was part of the UK Top 50 Cocktail bars for 2023, making it the perfect intimate, chic venue for Valentine’s Day. Spread over four stunning floors, including a relaxed lounge and bar, we recommend booking in advance to avoid disappointment. With fab staff, dark and mysterious interior, and cracking drinks with a regularly changing menu featuring classics as well as new creations, this is a great night time date spot.
A truly beautiful, ornate venue, found in an old bank with second floor balcony, wood burning stove and roof terrace for sunset watching, The Old Market Assembly is the most Instagrammable Valentine’s Day date! With a seasonal sustainable menu, as well as pizza nights, Spanish sharing plates and Sunday roasts, this is a fab foodie spot.
Coppa Club is a fab venue found in the ever popular Clifton Village. A relaxed place, here you can celebrate with a loved one any time of day, from breakfast to romantic dinner and drinks. Perhaps even book in for a mid-afternoon quiet coffee and lush cake if you find yourself in the village and looking for a comfortable pitstop. Spread over two floors there is plenty of space to relax and enjoy one another’s company.
This contemporary, vegan-friendly restaurant and wine bar is a stunning date spot. Tare Bistro is truly the ideal foodie venue, with set tasting menus and wine pairings, it’s the perfect booking for a sophisticated Valentine’s meal or long lunch. And we do highly recommend booking in advance! With friendly, passionate staff, locally sourced beer, cider and produce, and a fantastic open kitchen, Tare Bistro can be found alongside Bristol Harbourside.
