The guide that we were all waiting for: Brisbane's Bars, Breweries and Beers.
It’s beer o’clock with these five sensational pubs and breweries across Brisbane, so read up and then head out for a cold one.
Whilst not technically in Brissy, this Ipswich brewery is close enough and it’s well worth the trip.
4 Hearts Brewery hosts beer lovers in their Pumpyard Bar, where you can choose from their own homegrown ales or check out the award-winning international beer list.
If you’re feeling peckish then order a pizza, grab some BBQ, or share some home-smoked meats. Head Chef Shawn Breen hails from the US, and his roots show in the comfort food-style menu.
In the brewery itself, 4 Hearts makes their own craft beers, including stout, lager, IPAs, and pale ales, plus several seasonal specials.
What should you get at the 4 Hearts Brewery? Dish Cult recommends the Coal Miner’s stout (with hints of chocolate and coffee)
The Osbourne Hotel has a stunning refurbished art deco facade, and inside is equally as appealing.
The Osbourne prides itself on being ‘warm, welcoming, and unexpected’, and this translates into their food and drinks menu too.
There are no fewer than 21 cans of craft beer to choose from at this establishment, many with a fruity sour vibe. If you don’t get into fruit beer then you are sure to find something to quench your thirst on the lager list, the dark and amber ale list, the pale ale list (of which there are 16!), and a 13-strong IPA list.
The Osbourne also has a few beers on tap – 28, to be exact. And if beer isn’t your thing, then grab a cider or order a bevvie from their wine or cocktail menu.
What should you get at the Osbourne? Besides the beer, Dish Cult recommends the $27 antipasto share plate to pair.
The Brewski bar promises its patrons a beer, a burger, and a bloomin’ good time.
If beer is what you’re after, then the Brewski bar can accommodate. Not only do they rotate 12 different tap beers daily, they have over 600 (yes, you read right) types of bottled and canned beer – from IPAs to imperial stouts.
On the food side of things, the Brewski bar makes all kinds of burgers, 20 of which are plant-based. They also make share plates to specially match their beers.
What should you try at Brewski? Dish Cult recommends the peanut butter milk stout.
DogTap Brisbane is the Down Under spin-off of BrewDog in Scotland.
These guys freshly brew craft beer on-site at their brewery, which are featured amongst the 28-strong list of tap beers.
You can enjoy views of the Brisbane River while you enjoy your beer out on the patio, embrace your inner kid with a go on the pin-ball machines, and you can even take your dog (but they do have to stay out on the patio).
If you like to enjoy your beer in a laid-back spot, and where you can order some decent eats (think burgers, pizza, wings, tacos), then DogTap is your new favourite place to be.
What should you try at DogTap Brisbane? Dish Cult recommends the Elvis Juice IPA (You’ll thank us, thank us very much!).
Suburban Social is, as the name suggests, a favourite spot for locals. And their motto is, “it’s five o’clock somewhere”!
That is certainly true, so if you have worked up a thirst that only beer can satisfy, Suburban Social can help you out with their continually rotating beer list.
Owners Luke and Chris are passionate about showcasing Australian independent beers to their customers, which to them is the best in the world. These guys put the emphasis on community too, and we can’t argue with that.
When hunger strikes (which is inevitable), then grab a share plate, a burger or some tacos, and you’re sorted.
What should you try at Suburban Social Neighbourhood Bar & Kitchen? Dish Cult recommends the delicious $23 Veef burger with fries.
