It’s your birthday and you can cry if you want to, but you won’t be after visiting one of our recommendations on your big day! Whether you’re one for a celebratory breakfast, pizza and ice cream, or something far more fine dining, we have some top suggestions for welcoming another year lived well.

Early Starters

If you’re a birthday bruncher and don’t mind a glass of fizz in your hand before 12pm, booking yourself in for a boozy breakfast is quite possibly the best idea you’ve had this year.

Harbour and Browns offer a bottomless brunch option with plenty of prosecco being poured as well as a broad menu offering everything from burgers to steak and duck eggs. Plus, with it being situated at Wapping Wharf, there is plenty of harbour to walk off your huge meal.

Broken Dock, also on the harbour but the opposite side, will get your day started properly with an expertly cooked full english that comes with a bacon chop. Their Bloody Mary’s are one of the best in Bristol in our opinion and will set you up for a day of celebrating!

Party Food For Grown Ups

Some of us refuse to grow up and for good reason, childrens party food is the ultimate in beige comfort, but we think on ones birthday, you should absolutely posh it up.

For the ultimate pizza and ice cream experience for grown ups, you can’t do better than Bosco. These are expertly handmade Neapolitan style pizzas that have been years in the making, topped with high quality, Italian ingredients. If you have room after all that, Bosco are now serving gelato made by the ice cream wizards. Swoon!

If you’re more of a burger and chips kind of person, Burger Theory is definitely the place for you. With a menu packed with incredible burger options, everyone in your party will be happily tucking into their dinner. Keep it traditional with a cheese burger and fries or go big with their towering “Hairy Beast”, a beef & jalapeño patty, southern fried chicken breast, crispy bacon, melted cheddar, Frank’s Hot Sauce & blue cheese dressing. Share come loaded fried, a milkshake and maybe a cocktail and elevate that burger meal to a birthday meal.

The Popular Crowd

If your invite list is getting a little out of hand and you’re worried about a long wait for mains, you should turn your attention to sharing plates. Order two of everything on the menu and watch your friends diving in and trying something new.

For top tapas try Jamaica Street Stores in Bristol’s cultural quarter of Stokes Croft. Pick from their incredible menu including crispy quail eggs, venison bao and goats cheese with fig puree. Can’t pick? Have them bring out the chefs selection of favourites and concentrate on just having a great time.

Fine Dining Festivities

Perhaps you would rather bring another year in with an intimate dining experience in a fine dining restaurant?

Leave the decision making to the experts and book yourself a memorable evening at Bulrush. Their nine course tasting menu will take you on a culinary journey whilst the perfectly matched wine flight will top the evening off impeccably. We won’t ruin the surprise on the menu but trust us, it will be one of the best meals you’ll have this year.

Whatever you decide to do on your birthday this year, we hope you have a delicious one!
