Celebrating St Patrick's Day in London

St Patrick’s Day is a holiday for gathering with good company, listening to some great Irish music and giving Guinness the appreciation it deserves. Here are some of the best venues in London to set your sights on for this year’s St Paddy’s Day celebrations.

Spiritland is an absolutely epic space in King’s Cross – a super cool venue for music and Irish whisky drinkers alike. With super vibey music, this is a bar, cafe and radio studio all in one. Designed for music lovers, there’s also really good food and drink to go with the amazing soundtrack. Serving a delicious daily small plates menu, as well as cracking drinks, here there is a very decent range of Irish whiskies to raise a glass this St Patrick’s Day.

Hiver Taproom
cuisinesTaproom, Beer

We love this quirky and very cool railway arch London Bridge venue. Inspired by London’s urban beekeepers, Hive Taproom is an independent, sustainable venue in the perfect location to enjoy an in-house natural brew. A great venue for an excellent range of craft beers, come here for some drinks and you’ll be supporting a local, sustainable business. Hiver offers award-winning craft beer, created using only British ingredients and suppliers. It also offers Beer Tasting and Beekeeping experiences, too. With plenty of standing and seated room, this is the perfect venue to gather the mates for a pint with a difference, created by passionate brewers for beer enthusiasts.

The Cricketers is a gorgeous pub found just outside the gates of Kew Gardens. This is an ideal place for a pub lunch on St Patrick’s Day, washed down with fresh pints of craft beer. With a sunny and simple outside courtyard, as well as cosy interior, this is a great venue for families as well. You can also catch live sport here, making it a great spot for groups of friends in a relaxed setting where you can actually hear each other talk, too. Here you will find reasonably priced European gastropub food and a solid range of craft beer.

The quirkily named Pregnant Man pub is a cool central London venue that serves craft beer and thin crust pies in a relaxed setting with an outside patio for bright, warm days (fingers crossed for St Patrick’s Day!). If pies aren’t your thing, no problem; you can grab yourself a burger, fish tacos or pizza instead. Here you will find hearty, filling food and a great range of craft beers. You can discover craft ales and lager from local distilleries including Gipsy Hill Brewery and Camden Town Brewery.

If you’re looking to keep this St Patrick’s Day a bit on the lighter side, 166 at the Athenaeum is the perfect location for the family. Walkable from the festivities at Trafalgar Square, this cosy Piccadilly location is quaint and child-friendly. Stop in for a healthy and hearty breakfast before the festivities, for dinner when everyone needs a pick-me-up meal, or for afternoon tea even. And don’t worry mums and dads, there’s still a great drinks menu, too!
