Cosy Club is ideal for those who want a relaxed brunch but in a venue that’s sure to impress. Located in a former banking hall in the city centre, you’ll be wowed by the building with its high ceilings, marble floors and beautiful dark wood panelling – and equally wowed by the brunch menu, too.
Brunch is served from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week, and there’s plenty of choice to suit all tastes. Scrambled tofu for the vegans, a full veggie breakfast complete with moreish halloumi and sweetcorn fritters, crumpets with a decadent cinnamon butter or a stack of fluffy buttermilk pancakes with a choice of toppings – the only problem you’ll have is deciding what to order…
What do you do when you want brunch out but hate being constrained by a menu? The answer? Head to Hobbs House Bakery. Perched on a junction on Southville’s North Street, it’s a family-friendly place where you’ll have the choice of dining in or grabbing bread, savouries or pastries to take away and create your own brunch concoction.
Creating your own is very much the order of the day here: while there are regular menu items (everything from overnight oats to either a beef brisket or charred aubergine burger), the “build your breakfast” dishes are a popular choice. Start with two slices of your favourite bread (toasted) and two eggs (cooked to your liking), and add ingredients from a list of 11 that includes bacon, hot smoked mackerel, kimchi, grilled tomatoes and feta.
Head up to Whiteladies Road on a Saturday for brunch at The Ox Clifton, where you’ll be able to book from 10.30am to 2.30pm. It’s a smartly decorated place with almost a gentleman’s club feel – and while steak is at the heart of everything they do, they’re brilliant at catering for fish lovers and vegetarian diners too.
The dedicated brunch menu includes a steak salad, as well as steak and eggs – alongside the traditional meaty/veggie breakfasts, a BLT or avocado on toast with a choice of additional toppings. There’s a full lunch menu on offer too, if you’re looking for something more substantial – and the inclusion of bottomless Bellinis or Bloody Marys on the menu takes the decadence level a notch higher…
Rosemarino’s become a bit of a Bristol institution since it first opened – and having won multiple awards for its breakfasts, it’s easy to see why. With its smart-yet-chilled Italian café vibe, it’s a comfortable place to enjoy brunch crafted from ingredients that are either made in-house, sourced locally or imported straight from Italy.
The Clifton restaurant’s menu is sizeable, and the Italian slant is clear: order toast and you’ll be presented with focaccia, choose the veggie breakfast and your plate will feature cubes of polenta and rosemary along with the other ingredients. The star of the show, though, is “Tommy’s 1 pan”: a sizzling pan of ham hock, chopped sausage, potatoes, mushrooms and onions, all sautéed together before two eggs are cracked on top and cooked, cheese melted over the top and a hunk of focaccia added to the dish before serving.
We definitely advise booking if you’re planning on a trip to Harbour & Browns for brunch! This Harbourside venue is located in the Wapping Wharf development, and squeezes a small restaurant with big, bold flavours into three converted shipping containers.
You’re in for a treat with their Saturday brunch, which is served from 10am to 4pm. Choose a single main dish with choices for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans alike – their duck & waffle dish, with a fluffy smoked and salted waffle, a tender confit duck leg, a duck egg and sticky plum sauce is out of this world. Or, if you’re feeling decadent, opt for their three-course bottomless brunch, where the Prosecco just keeps flowing…
Another option south of the river here, with Southville’s Souk Kitchen serving up tasty Mediterranean and North African-inspired fare seven days a week. It’s the perfect choice for those looking for a mixture of the traditional and the more exotic: choose a full English if you like, or opt for British with a twist with their Turkish eggs on toast with feta. Their signature dish is the rich and warming shakshouka: eggs poached in a beautifully spice onion, tomato and pepper sauce, with flatbread on the side and a choice of added feta, spinach or merguez sausage if you so wish…
