After three long years, the Winter Night Market has returned to the Queen Victoria Market.
Every Wednesday between now and the 31st of August, you should get all rugged up in your winter woollies and head to the sheds for street food, roving performers, artisanal makers, mulled wine, hot chocolate and much more.
The big question is, of course, what to eat? With over 35 street food stalls to choose from, it’s not that easy a question. Finding a cuisine that isn’t represented will be a challenge.
We really love the Birria quesatacos from Dingo Ate My Taco, stuffed with shredded brisket and Oaxacan cheese, as well as the Polish dumplings from Pierogi Pierogi, because there’s nothing better on a cold night than creamy potato and cheese in these rib-sticking balls of comfort.
On the sweet side, you can of course go for the OG hot jam donuts from American Doughnut Kitchen, but there’s also excellent Portuguese tarts from Casa Nata and burnt Basque cheesecake with delicious twists from market stalwart M&G Caiafa.
If you’re bringing the kids, be sure to pick up the sweet cartoon-themed buns from Son in Law. Who could possibly resist Pokémon and Hello Kitty in delicious edible form? Not us!
And while you’re eating, there’s shopping to be done, with handmade jewellery, leather goods, vintage stalls and plenty of art on offer, as well as roving performers to keep you entertained.
Don’t miss Guru Dudu’s silent disco on the 22nd of June or the 6th of July. You’ll be so busy grooving, silently of course, you’ll forget the cold!
