We know we’ve got some fabulous restaurants in the Dish Cult family, and many of them have just been named amongst Australia’s best.

The delicious.100 is a list which ranks “the most exciting, innovative, generous and delicious” restaurants in New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and South Australia. It is a collab between the much-loved food magazine and the News Corp newspaper in each state.

On the 2022 list, the first time the list has been published after a two-year Covid-related absence, a number of Dish Cult restaurants have been honoured.

In New South Wales, we recommend you go to Shell Dining Room and Terrace, number 21 on the list, for a Mediterranean style menu which exhibits excellent French technique. With former Aria head chef Joel Bickford acting as culinary director and head chef Aaron Ward from Sixpenny in charge, you know you’re in for something special. The restaurant also took out the award for best design, so expect to be dining in serious style.

Also on the list are the winners of the best Japanese in New South Wales, Sokyo; Sydney fine dining institution Tetsuya’s; the city’s best known Sardinian restaurant Pilu at Freshwater; new Greek kid on the block, Bondi Beach’s Topikós; a reinvigorated Berowra Waters Inn with chef Lauren Eldridge officially labelled as a chef to watch; and Da Orazio Pizza and Porchetta, which sees the return of Italian master chef Orazio D’Elia to his Bondi roots.

Victoria’s list features the outstanding Mornington Peninsula winery restaurant Ten Minutes by Tractor at number six. If it’s the produce of the Peninsula you want to sample, skillfully prepared and executed, with stunning views and world-class wines, look no further.

You’ll also find modern Italian gem The Hardware Club; the old world European charm of Matteo’s and Melbourne’s Cantonese stalwart Flower Drum on the list.

Over in Queensland, Japanese fine diner Kiyomi, Gold Coast gastropub The Glenelg Public House, and unique pan-Asian experience Eddy & Wolff all made the cut.

Finally in South Australia, forever cool Africola, with its unique take on the flavours of southern Africa, makes the list at number 15 and also takes out the award for best vegetarian the state has to offer.
