Nothing quite beats a bagel, so it’s no wonder one of the best bagel spots in the country took out Cult Favourite Dish for 2022. When we think of our favourite dish, we picture something we could eat anywhere, anytime, and keep going back for more. That’s exactly what the King Salmon is!

The King Salmon toppings sit on top of one of Al Brown’s iconic Best Ugly bagels. The original dough recipe was modelled after Montreal’s hand-made, wood-fired bagels, blessing Aotearoa with classic crispy but chewy bagels under the name Best Ugly Bagels.

You’ll find the award-winning bagel under the Classics section of the menu, coming in as the heartiest bagel on offer. Taking a Best Ugly, it gets topped off with a smear of Zany Zeus cream cheese, smoked Regal king salmon, red onion, capers, and lemon juice for a splash of acidity to tie all the flavours together.

The simplicity but likeability of a salmon and cream cheese bagel makes it a crowd-pleaser from the get-go. Whether you’re heading out for post-workout fuel or a dusty Sunday morning cure, the King Salmon is your saviour.

Best Ugly is all about quality homegrown ingredients, which we think makes them that extra bit tasty and special. The King Salmon’s handcrafted cream cheese comes from a Wellington dairy boutique, the salmon is fresh and sustainably farmed in Marlborough Sounds, all factors that make the King Salmon a step above the rest.

For such a quick and convenient dish, available to you in a matter of minutes but arriving as such a flavourful package, we certainly see why you’ve named it the Cult Favourite Dish of 2022.
