If you’re after something light then try the mushroom and cheese toastie; made with sourdough bread, a smoky mushroom trio, spinach, a salsa Verde aioli, and vegan cheese. Or opt for the raw tacos; made using lettuce cups and a combination of faux mince (spiced walnuts), avo ranch, lime pickled onions, nut cheese, and house-fermented chilli sauce. The Butcher’s Son is a completely plant-based eatery that thrives on replicating all your favourite meals with a veggie/vegan spin. The nachos are always a crowd pleaser; using Mexican beans, guacamole, a tomato and jalapeno salsa with a sprinkle of vegan cheese on top. If you’re looking for a healthier option then they also have a Caesar salad with avo, crispy croutons, capers, and a cashew based ‘parmesan’. If you’re in need of a heavier dish then the Palak ‘Paneer’ curry is unbeatable! This mildly spicy curry bursts with flavour, using a combination of tofu and spinach for a creamy finish. It’s served with garlic flatbread and rice. Pair this dish with the electric dry drop acid test beer.
Dr Rudi’s is an iconic eatery and bar looking out upon the Viaduct, serving up a selection of fresh seafood dishes, sharing plates, and outstanding pizza. Dr Rudi’s aim to meet every dietary need with their 3-sized pizza range. Including the vegan and veggie pizza. With a selection of delicious toppings, you can’t go wrong; finely chopped mushrooms, onions, kumara, roasted peppers and vegan cheese. They also have the broccolini and roasted kumara power salad. Including the mentioned ingredients as well as edamame, croutons, roasted capsicum, red and spring onions and cheese. You can choose between adding the vegan cheese instead of the classic parmesan.
Kaiaroha aim to please with their inventive menu and inclusion of vegan cheese into every aspect of their dining experience. Their al la carte menu sports both individual dishes and platters to share. They have dishes available like the Reuben grilled cheese sourdough sandwich made with faux pastrami, wholegrain mustard, and smokey vegan cheese served with a side of sauerkraut and pickles. They also have the aubergine parmigiana and a field mushroom omelette that includes cashew nut cheese. For sharing there’s a delectable cheese platter that includes up to four types of vegan cheese including the cashew cream cheese and a selection of finely aged nut cheese. With their hotdog range you can choose between three styles; Melbourne, Chicago and Tijuana. Both the Melbourne and Tijuana styled hotdogs sit on a base of vegan cheese. Then the delicious veggie dog goes on top – slowly melting the cheese. Pair your hotdog or burger with a side of fries and grab a vegan shake to wash it down.
