Possibly one of the most famous pies in Auckland, Prego’s Pie is one of the most luxe treat-yourself menu items we’ve seen. Frequently changing the filling, there’s been a decadent creamy chicken filling, rich beef and gravy, and a lamb ragu in recent months – which have all been met with overwhelming success and praise. Teamed up with their iconic buttery pastry, garlic parmigiano mash, green pea crush, and port wine jus, you won’t mind the $32 price tag once you get your mouth around this dish.

The award-winning Oliver’s Bakehouse in Mission Bay won Bakel’s 2019’s Best Mince & Gravy Pie Award, beating out thousands of other pies across the country. The humble little bakery looks inconspicuous before you reach the pie warmer filled with winning golden pastries. While almost all of their pies are definitely delicious, we’re always a sucker for the Mince & Gravy, given it is the best in New Zealand. Pop along to grab a pie and maybe a sweet treat before heading across to Mission Bay Beach to enjoy it all in the sunshine.

Dedicating their entire store to pies, it’s no wonder Muzza’s does a bloody good job at creating them. Line up at either establishment and you’ll see people from all walks of life heading in to pick up a pie, with a flavour for each and every kind of pie-eater. From the classics including steak, steak & cheese, mince & cheese, bacon & egg to much more adventurous flavours including a spaghetti top pie, chicken & apricot, and steak & curry with sultanas, you’ve got options aplenty. Head in prepared on an empty stomach to ensure room for one of their mouthwatering dessert fruit pies too!

Little & Friday’s ever-changing Pie Of The Day is reason enough to get out of bed in the morning and head into store to find out today’s flavour. The cult-favourite gourmet bakery and cafe has set up shop in Ponsonby, alongside their Newmarket store, and they’ve taken their Pie Of The Day with them of course. There’s been bacon & egg, steak potato top, mince & cheese, and chicken, leek, & bacon to name a few. Whichever flavour is available, we guarantee it’ll live up to all your expectations.

Renowned for being one of the best bakeries in Auckland, The Baker’s Cottage lives up to the hype with their toasty warmer filled with glorious hot savoury pies. Perfect golden parcels of filled pies in classic flavours, as well as more intricate fillings including a pork belly potato pie. If you’re looking for a traditional pie at a great price point, The Baker’s Cottage is a winner every time.

While the bakery may look small from the outside, The Mustard Kitchen’s lineup of pies certainly isn’t.
